On the basis of processing principles of torus-involute gear,when the longitudinal modification method based on continuous shifting is used for the pinion in the face gear drive,a modified face gear drive is obtained.The new modification method is significant to decrease the sensitivity of the contact path to the installation errors and avoid the occurrence of gear deviation load.The meshing characteristics are well controlled when the parameters are pre-designed.This thesis is aimed at investigating the meshing characteristics of the modified face gear drive.The main contents are shown as follows:(1)Based on the differential geometry theory and the spatial meshing theory,the tooth surface equations of the modified face gear drive are derived.Based on the tooth surface equations of the face gear,the conditions of undercutting and tooth pointing are formulated.The MATLAB code is written to generate the gear surface point set.Combined with Pro/E,the three-dimentional solid model of the modified face gear is created.(2)Considering the errors of alignment,tooth contact analysis(TCA)is conducted to study the influence of modified parameters on contact path.Based on the differential geometry theory,the principal curvatures of tooth surfaces and principal relative curvatures of face gear drive in point contact are obtained,and the situation of curvature interference at meshing points is analyzed.(3)Load tooth contact analysis(LTCA)of the modified face gear drive is implemented by ABAQUS.Make a contrastive study on transmission performances of four face gears with different modified parameters,including the distribution of the contact stress,the load distribution coefficient,the contact ratio and load transmission error.(4)Dynamic simulation analysis of the modified face gear drive is conducted by ADAMS.The angular acceleration of the face gear and meshing forces are chosen as the indexes to measure the dynamic performance.Under different working conditions(different rotational speed and different load),make a contrastive study on dynamic performance of four face gears with different modified parameters.
