In the conservation plan of traditional architecture and settlement, the mismatch between construction and design is an inevitable problem. The mismatch commonly shows as the variations in the cognitions of the traditionality of architecture feature. In most cases, evaluation of historic feature is made based on designers’ subjective perception, experience, and understanding of the traditional style.Without appropriate guide and unified control, could make the conservation plan less efficient in practice. Therefore,a quantitative method for conservation plan is needed, which is expected to be effective especially for massive non-key but traditional common buildings. In this study on Gunanjie Street,in Yixing,China,a new features description and evaluation system has been developed by using the intelligent information data technology to acquire the morphological features of historical characteristic as the database, using knowledge discovery tool,Rough Set Theory,to describe and analyze the morphology rules of features and then using Java and City Engine to generate the corresponding buildings and settlement.Accordingly, the referable guideline was made concerning the condition, function and property of buildings for policy makers and residents, contributing to establish the acceptance evaluation and compensation decision.
