Research On Securing Assessment Method Of Heavy And Oversize Cargo In Land And Sea Transport

Securing is a vital safety measure in land and sea transport of heavy and oversize cargo.Research on securing assessment method is of great theoretical and practical value.There are some global and regional regulations,codes and guidelines that are relevant to cargo transport,in which some calculation formulae of forces on cargo were given.However,the specific characteristics of heavy and oversize cargo are not taken into consideration in those calculation models.And some relatively important simplifications which may affect results of calculations as well as some obvious conflicts are making it difficult to apply the models in practice.To solve the above-mentioned problem,the study proposed a theoretical model from facts and experiences in practice,compared and improved the calculation models in regulations.For land transport,on the basis of the characteristics of heavy and oversize cargo-transporting vehicle,the study analyzed the inertial forces working on cargo and developed a theoretical algorithm.An experiment was carried out to determine the deceleration of cargo and vehicle during braking process.As for sea transport,a theoretical algorithm approach combined with numerical simulation was introduced to calculate inertial forces on cargo.AQWA,a hydro-dynamic software was used to evaluate ship motion response in the numerical simulation.The calculation of blocking forces provided by welded blockings was also introduced.Based on the comparison of several regulations as well as experiment reports of previous research,the study determined some important parameters.Based on the above study,a securing assessment method of heavy and oversize cargo in land and sea transport was established.In order to apply the assessment method into practice,the study developed a securing assessment and computer-aided-design software using VB.NET.The software can calculate external forces on cargo and make assessment of securing system automatically based on necessary parameters input by users.The gap between theoretical model and practice was filled so that the assessment method can be well employed to guide the design of securing plan.
