Staggered truss steel frame system provides excellent lateral bracing,light weight,rapid construction,low cost,green environmental protection and so on.So it has drawn wide attention in both engineering and academic field recently.But the bearing capacity of sudden change which caused by the yielding of web members provides a poor ductility.The paper,referring to foreign codes and internal technical specification,carries out a seismic study on ductile staggered truss steel frame system by means of program Perform-3D,and draws the conclusion of its seismic performance.The paper carries out a theory design method,which is the central chord girders in the case of the staggered truss system will yield,developing an ultimate mechanism and designs the sections of the staggered truss system.The article gives the process of the 5-floor,10-floor,15-floor,20-floor staggered truss system design.The paper carries out Nonlinear Static Analysis(Push-over analysis)on ductile staggered truss system with inverted triangle displacement and based on structure mode shape analysis.The paper groups 14 modals according to their building height to width ratio,truss height to span ratio,vierendeel length of the middle section of truss,building length to width ratio and makes a series of comparisons between these modals.The level 2 of the ductile staggered truss system is the weakest in all the levels.The development of structural plastic hinge is the same as the expected yield mechanism.The paper also carries out time history analysis on the ductile staggered truss steel frame system and three strong ground motion records are selected to carry out elastic and inelastic time history analysis.The paper groups 14 modals according to building height to width ratio,truss height to span ratio,vierendeel length of the middle section of truss,building length to width ratio and makes a series of comparisons between these modals.The paper concludes the percentage of energy consumption of the staggered truss steel frame system based on the charts of energy consumption via time.More than 55% of the earthquake wave energy is consumed by the structure of the chord member of the string.The performance based seismic design of structure can be evaluated by the utilization of the component.
