With the gradual advancement of urbanization, urban development has gradually changed from incremental expansion to stock optimization. As the basic unit of the city, the residential area of old city has become the object of urban renewal with the increasing contradiction between urban development, location value and residents' needs. The industrial residential areas is the supporting worker residential area of the industrial base built by the state in the Fifth Five-Year period for the rapid economic development. It is an important part of the residential area of old city.It witnesses the development and historical changes of our cities, and is an important part of the city's characteristic style and historical texture. The traditional "one-size-fits-all" renewal mode of demolition and reconstruction has caused irreversible damage to the urban form due to the lack of a deep understanding of the process of urban development and human connotation. In order to avoid more characteristic space being lost in the wave of urban renewal, this paper takes the old city industrial residential areas as the research object from the perspective of urban morphological process, studies the evolution of spatial pattern, deepens the understanding of its development law, mechanism and excavates its potential value, and provides a scientific and reasonable basis for its future renewal. The paper is divided into three parts. The first part is the carding of the theoretical basis.Through the study of urban morphology,we choose Conzenian School of urban morphology as the theoretical basis of this study, which interprets urban morphology in an evolutionary way.Through the research on the origin and development of Conzenian School, the development at home and abroad and the application of practical cases,we can deepen the understanding of the specific operation process and research content of Conzenian School, and verify the applicability of Conzenian School to the study of residential evolution at the micro level in China. In the second part, taking the living area of No.3 State-Owned Textile Factory in Zhengzhou as an example, the evolution of street, building function, building basement, building height, building density and block cycle related to the living area spatial pattern is systematically analyzed by using Conzenian plan pattern analysis and block cycle theory for reference, and combining with the evolutionary power machine.Systematic analysis,in-depth excavation of the formation of its morphology and potential value, and summed up the rules and characteristics of its spatial pattern. Finally, based on the evolution law of living area, the renewal principles of integrity, continuity and graduality are put forward.Under the guidance of the principles, the relationship between the evolution law of living area spatial pattern and renewal design is discussed, and the renewal of buildings, public spaces, road traffic and landscape greening in living area is carried out.To promote the harmonious and orderly development of living areas.Through the research on the evolution of Spatial Pattern of the industrial residential areas of No.3 State-Owned Textile Factory in zhengzhou, the aim is to establish a systematic and operable method for the research of the development context and the excavation of potential value of the industrial residential areas,to provide a scientific and reasonable basis for its renewal, and to lay a foundation for the renewal of the old city.
