Since joining the WTO,the status of automobiles in China's national economy has been increasing. With the rapid rise of a series of independent brands such as Chery,Great Wall and Geely, automobile has become one of the most important industries in China and has been named "macroeconomic regulators." As of 2017,the contribution rate of Chinese autos to the national economy has reached 10.7%,and the trend of continued growth is particularly obvious. With the growing self-owned automobile brands in China,Chinese cars are widely welcomed by foreign consumers, especially those in developing countries. In the past ten years, among the top ten countries in China's automobile export volume,South American countries occupy four seats. This study of the factors affecting the export of Chinese cars to South American countries has certain theoretical and practical significance. The huge market size and high degree of urbanization in South America is conducive to the further expansion of China's auto export scale and the continuous upgrading of export models. The targeted export experience in different countries and countries in South America also provides valuable reference for Chinese auto exports to overseas markets such as Africa and Southeast Asia. This paper focuses on the analysis of the factors affecting automobile exports. On the one hand,it tries to find out whether there are influential factors that have gradually faded with the progress of the times, avoiding the blind spots in the process of market expansion;on the other hand,it tries to find some significant impacts today including traditional and previous factors, and based on this, exploring the export methods and strategies. This paper first finds out the potential influencing factors of Chinese auto exports to South American countries from four aspects: economic, market size, industry scale, labor force and infrastructure. Then, using the gravity model to measure and analyze the 17 factors, find out the scale of GDP,The average wage level, the proportion of the secondary industry, industrial electricity consumption, passenger traffic, cargo turnover, population size, highway mileage, etc, which have significant influence on Chinese auto exports to South American countries;and then using principal component analysis based on the above results. The method divides South American countries into the following three levels:economic powers(Brazil,Argentina,Chile),moderately stable political and economic countries(Peru,Venezuela,Colombia, etc.),countries with unstable political and economic environments(Bolivia,Guyana, etc.)Finally,we proposed countermeasures and suggestions in the aspects of market mining, risk prevention, talent reserve and after-sales service.
