The current situation of the high-speed railway network in jiangsu province shows that the south is rich while the north is poor.In northern jiangsu and central jiangsu,only xuzhou city has the high-speed railway,while in southern jiangsu,the full coverage of high-speed railway was achieved in 2010.As the second largest economy province in China,jiangsu province's GDP in 2018 will exceed 9 trillion yuan,and the five cities in southern jiangsu will account for more than 50%of the total.Is the imbalance of economic development between the north and the south of jiangsu province related to the opening of high-speed railway?Therefore,the study of the impact of high-speed rail on regional economic development is of great significance to the scientific planning of high-speed rail network lines in jiangsu province,the coordination of regional development and the acceleration of urban economic growth.However,many domestic studies are only limited to the macro level of regions and above in terms of regional positioning,and only introduce "whether to open high-speed rail" in terms of high-speed rail factors,and the use of DID model is not accurate enough.Based on this,the research area of this paper is located in the county cities of jiangsu province,adding the variable of "frequency of high-speed railway" and introducing propensity score matching,in order to more scientifically explore the impact of high-speed railway on regional economy.This paper firstly sorts out the influence mechanism of high-speed railway on regional economic development,and studies the influence mechanism of high-speed railway on regional economic development from three aspects of transportation system,industrial structure optimization and regional economic growth.Then,using the panel data of 13 prefecture-level cities and 41 counties in jiangsu province from 2002 to 2017 as samples,the propensity score matching(PSM)method was used to select the experimental group and the control group,and the matching equilibrium test was conducted.Finally,DID model was established to study the impact of high-speed railway opening on per capita GDP,per capita GDP growth rate and industrial structure of jiangsu province.Research shows that in the whole macro economic growth to slow in jiangsu province,opened high-speed rail to regional per capita GDP has obvious promotion effect,but the per capita GDP growth rates were not significantly raise,namely high iron is one of the necessary conditions of regional economic development,rather than a necessary and sufficient condition.At the same time,the opening of high-speed rail has a positive role in promoting the upgrading of industrial structure and can significantly optimize the industrial structure.Finally,based on the research results and the development status of jiangsu province,Suggestions are put forward for the planning of high-speed railway network and regional economic development of jiangsu province,and some ideas are provided for improving the imbalance of economic development between the north and the south,so that high-speed railway can better promote the rapid and stable development of the overall economy of jiangsu province.
