| This paper is based on the author’s actual work and the research during the postgraduate period.The main research content includes three parts:how to build low-carbon communities under the realistic conditions of our country;How to protect the historic and cultural city in the new use demand of modernization;How to combine the former two elements to carry out low-carbon block renewal and renovation?The key point of the study is how to give consideration to the protection and development of historical and cultural blocks in the face of a series of demands,such as the protection of historical and cultural blocks,the renewal of traditional residential space,the improvement of the quality of historical blocks and the treatment of water environment.It is necessary not only to inherit the historical context,but also to protect the style and features of the ancient city,and take into account the modern civilization construction in line with the needs of the future.It is necessary to realize the preservation of the ancient city and the continuation of the city memory,but also to meet the multi-win pattern of harmonious development of economy and society.In the process of the research work in this paper,first of all,the concept of low-carbon community and international advanced theoretical and practical results were thoroughly collated and studied.At the same time,combined with field investigation,field discussion and resident visit and other work methods,the first-hand basic research materials were obtained.Based on the theory and practical experience,the low-carbon transformation of traditional residential communities in Baziqiao area was deeply analyzed.The detailed design of three typical nodes has been completed by using low-carbon community technology measures and historic and cultural block protection measures.As a unique part of the city,the historic and cultural block,due to the changes of natural and social factors as well as the development process of urban construction,cannot completely maintain the original local historical features while retaining the residential function.The requirements of future-oriented urban development for communities include low-carbon,environmental protection and ecological security.To achieve the goal of respecting history and facing the future,historic and cultural blocks in general need low-carbon renewal and transformation.This process of transformation must take protection as the premise,that is,through low-impact development,green infrastructure transformation and reversible renewal as the core.In this research work,aiming at the current situation,the author has carried out low-carbon transformation,strictly abiding by the core working methods,while protecting the historical features of Baziqiao area,improving the overall spatial quality of the area,improving the style of streets and alleys,repairing the architectural image,strengthening the service function of traditional residential communities,and spreading the Baziqiao area under the background of increasing social aging.The low-carbon work of unified residential community should be designed to adapt to aging,expand the area of public communication space,improve the accessibility of open green space,and solve the current internal traffic problems.While continuing the traditional style,the renewal and transformation of traditional residential communities should pay more attention to the harmony of style and low-carbon tendencies,mainly reflected in the selection of materials,the organization of transportation modes,the activation of functions and the green ecological renewal of infrastructure.The material aspects include the application of renewable material components,the application of permeable green brick pavement and the application of traditional style permeable pavement.Traffic organization includes the planning of non-motor vehicle parking space and the organization of traditional transportation modes in the ancient city,such as Wupeng boat wharf and water transportation line;functional activation is reflected in the transformation of residential courtyards in Baziqiao area,mainly through population evacuation,streamline arrangement,functional activation and environmental upgrading;and green ecological infrastructure mainly includes the aging foundation of the present situation.The re-planning of facilities also includes rainwater harvesting and related design to improve water circulation efficiency in the area.The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of transforming traditional residential communities with great difficulty in physical space into low-carbon communities under the background of famous historical and cultural cities with very strict restrictions on cultural relic protection,the technical route of specific transformation,as well as the comparison of advantages and disadvantages of relevant low-carbon community transformation experience in ancient cities at home and abroad,and the possibility of specific application of international low-carbon design frontier ideas in China’s famous historical and cultural cities.Shaoxing Ancient City,as the first batch of famous historical and cultural cities in China,has a history of more than 2500 years.Its beautiful classical urban scenery is most commendable.With the unremitting efforts of the local government for a long time,Shaoxing Ancient City has not been erased for decades due to the large-scale urban modernization construction,and has been effectively protecting cultural relics,historical and cultural streets.District,historical river system and the overall area of the ancient city style.At present,the demand of urban development and construction has changed from high-speed development to high-quality development.The protection of ancient cities is still facing the realistic challenges of modernization and people’s need to improve their quality of life.For this reason,our protection and renewal work must combine the inheritance of historical culture with the demonstration of modern ecological civilization,improve the current development situation step by step,and explore the future development path of the ancient city.Through a series of theoretical and practical research,this paper discusses the direction of low-carbon development of traditional residential communities in historic and cultural cities,and gives solutions to the typical nodes of the Baziqiao area.It is hoped that through this research work,more colleagues in this field can be motivated to carry out research on how to core symbiosis of ancient city protection and environmental safety.Especially for more detailed and in-depth research and so
