The northern part of Ganzhou refers to the administrative region of eight counties and cities in the northern part of Ganzhou,namely Zhanggong District,Gan County,Ningdu County,Yudu County,Shicheng County,Huichang County,Xingguo County and Ruijin City.The northern part of Ganzhou has a long history,rich cultural resources,and rich natural resources.Superior natural conditions and humanistic environment provide good conditions for the formation and development of ancient gardens in northern Ganzhou.This paper takes the ancient gardens in northern Ganzhou as the research object.Through collecting,summarizing,synthesizing and analyzing the relevant documents and materials in the area,and investigating the existing ancient gardens on the spot,the development context,garden types,representative gardens and regional characteristics of the ancient gardens in northern Ganzhou are sorted out.Influenced by the natural environment,cultural environment and political and economic background in the northern part of Ganzhou,the development process of ancient gardens in the northern part of Ganzhou can be divided into five periods: 1.Formation period——Qin and Han Dynasty,and Eastern Han Dynasty.Under the influence of immortal culture,Jinjingshan with beautiful scenery in the area became a place for immortal cultivation of Huangxian Lao Road,and gardens in the northern part of Ganzhou.Formed here.2.In the initial period ——Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties,after Buddhism and Taoism were introduced into the northern part of Ganzhou,the two religions became the mainstream culture in the region,and temple gardens,such as Qinglian Temple in Ningdu,began to appear in the territory.At the same time,under the influence of metaphysics,people’s aesthetic consciousness of mountains and rivers was awakened,and private gardens appeared in the mountains and deep valleys of the region,such as Ningdu Laijilu.3.During the transition period ——Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties,the war in the hinterland of Central Plains led to the northerners moving southward,injecting new vitality into the development zone of northern Ganzhou.At the same time,Confucian culture and Kanyu culture began to be introduced,and people’s gardening ideas changed quietly.During this period,many religious believers built houses for temples,and the construction of temple gardens was more perfect.Private gardens were influenced by the imperial examination culture dominated by the newly introduced Confucian culture,presenting the distribution of the temples near the mountains.4.During the prosperous period ——Song Dynasty,the economy,culture and politics in this period developed rapidly.Education began to be established in the region,and the number of scholar students increased gradually.Academic gardens,Xuegong gardens(Longhu Academy,Ganzhou prefecture),public gardens(Bajintai)gathered by literati,government gardens(Yaoyuan)and private gardens(Shuizhu seclusion)brought about by literati’s official career began to appear in the territory,and temple gardens also had more recreational functions in this period;5.Full-blooming period ——Yuan and Ming period,people in this area also had recreational functions.Gardening activities are frequent,the number of gardens in the territory is several times more than the previous period,and the types of gardens in the region are complete.Under the influence of the theory of geomantic omen,the upsurge of "building geomantic omen and promoting imperial examinations" appeared.Academic gardens and academic Palace Gardens in the area are affected by the site selection,layout and landscaping,and also bring new landscape elements-Fengshui Tower.6.Maturity period——Qing Dynasty.During this period,the economy and culture of northern Ganzhou were prosperous,the politics was clear and the gardening technology was mature.The original types of gardens in the area have the characteristics of increasing number,expanding scale,various plant species,rich landscape and diverse architectural forms.At the same time,after a hundred years of development,the living environment of foreign clans in China has formed a village landscape with regional characteristics.The ancient gardens in the northern part of Ganzhou have formed seven main types of gardens under the influence of the unique geographical environment and human environment,namely,temple gardens,private gardens,government gardens,Academy gardens,Xuegong gardens,public gardens and other gardens.It is found that the development of ancient gardens in the region has the characteristics of early formation and slow development.The regional characteristics of ancient gardens in the northern part of Ganzhou show the characteristics of mixed and pluralistic gardening ideas,which can be influenced by public opinion;the pursuit of Jingming Zhi in artistic conception construction;the use of Fengshui Tower in the application of landscape elements;the unique ingenuity in landscape construction:(1)The site selection is mainly based on mountains and woodlands,which is influenced by public opinion culture.(2)Water management emphasizes living source and living water,making scenery unique.(3)Mountains are built from the earth for a long view.(4)There are various kinds of plants with four seasons of flower hair.(5)Various forms of architecture are integrated into nature.
