Jiangxi has beautiful mountains and rivers and beautiful scenery.It has always been a place of cultural prosperity and economic prosperity.Jiangxi plays an important role in the development of Buddhist history,and the emergence and prosperity of Zen is inseparable from the influence of Jiangxi's cultural environment.Taking ancient Buddhist temple gardens in Jiangxi as the research object,this paper combines literature induction,field investigation,case study,historical comparison,chart drawing,comprehensive analysis and other research methods,combines the literature and historical data of each period,combs the development context of ancient Buddhist temple gardens in Jiangxi,summarizes the characteristics of their gardens types,from the location selection,gardening skills,elements and artistic conception construction,etc.Summarize the characteristics of ancient Buddhist temple gardens in Jiangxi area.Jiangxi's politics,economy and culture have an important influence on the development of ancient Buddhist temple gardens.Through research,the development process of ancient Buddhist temple gardens in Jiangxi is divided into the following six stages:(1)Buddhism began to be introduced into China in the early period-the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty,and Jiangxi became one of the earliest areas to be introduced into Buddhism.At this time,Buddhist temple gardens did not appear.(2)During the turning point period-Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties,the number of Buddhist temples in Jiangxi increased,until Huiyuan began to create artificial Zen forest in Donglin Temple.The construction of ancient Buddhist temple gardens in Jiangxi began.At this time,Buddhist temple gardens still made use of natural landscapes more,and artificial landscapes were less.(3)During the period of development-Sui and Tang Dynasties,Buddhism flourished in Jiangxi.Many sects were founded in Jiangxi,and the prosperity of "one flower and five leaves" appeared.The creation of Buddhist temple gardens began its first climax.During this period,the development of gardens flourished,Buddhist temples began to enter the mountain forests,incorporating more artificial gardening techniques,and the use of plants became more abundant.The emergence of Zen in the later period made Buddhist temple gardens become literati.(4)From the heyday to the Song Dynasty,Zen gradually flourished.With the emergence of the "Five Families and Seven Sects",Buddhism flourished unprecedentedly.Buddhist temples entered the mountain forests in large numbers,and the climax of monks and Buddhas occupied the mountains appeared.Buddhist temple gardens made more use of the natural landscape and the landscape became more abundant.In the Song Dynasty,there were a large number of literati in Jiangxi Province.The interaction between literati and Zen monks promoted the development of Buddhist temple gardens and literati culture.(5)Maturity period-Yuan and Ming Dynasty,the development of Buddhism in Jiangxi was slower than that of the previous generation.Only Zen still flourished,and Buddhist temple gardens inherited the past and the future.The art of gardening flourished in Ming Dynasty,and more artificial landscapes appeared in Buddhist temple gardens,such as building ponds,stacking mountains and planting flowers.(6)In the late mature period-Qing Dynasty,Buddhism in Jiangxi was gradually lonely.During this period,the number of new Buddhist temples was small,and the development of Buddhist temple gardens was slow.During this period,there were few innovations in Buddhist temple gardens,mostly for the repair and inheritance of previous generations.Ancient Buddhist temple gardens in Jiangxi are numerous and brilliant,with various sects and characteristics.Buddhist temple gardens are mainly Zen gardens.Ancient Buddhist temple gardens in Jiangxi are mostly mountainous and forest countryside.They are good at using natural environment to create a rich garden environment.With the development of the times,gardening art has gradually matured,forming Buddhist temple gardens with Jiangxi characteristics.
