Medical Device New Product Development Project Research And Application On Decision And Evaluation Method For Manufacturing Site Selection

Medical device industry has close relationship with the life and health of human beings.With the continuous investment and promotion of the developed countries all over the world,the whole industry has maintained a high annual growth rate over the past ten years.As the largest medical device product R&D center in China established by multinational company,some of the projects failed to select the most appropriate manufacturing site due to there is no definite manufacturing site selection methodology and procedure defined yet,this has caused consequences of reduction of the revenue or project termination unexpectedly.Through the application of project decision-making and project evaluation theory,execution of existing project management procedure,as well as the lessons and learns from the finished projects,we expect to find and define out a set of complete procedure and methodology,which can help with standardizing manufacturing site selection process,ensuring site selection result and laying a foundation for the success of the projects.With the application of critical success factor theory and project success theory,a new evaluation index system is defined for the site selection process,covering value of company,value of project,project execution and afterward sustaining.AHP methodology is used to define weight of each index.The overall assess is defined through Fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.The new defined procedure and methodology was put into an executed project to verify its rationality.The verifying result shows the original selection result is not the optical one,the recommended result is align with the project’s lesson and learn,and the new defined procedure is applicable.
