Research On The Development Of Port Industry In Guangdong Province Based On Niche Theory

Guangdong Province is an important coastal economic province in China.It has vast coastline resources.Coastal ports have gradually become the key nodes in the transportation network.A large number of industrial enterprises have gathered in the coastal areas because of the convenience brought by ports.The concentration of labor and capital resources has gradually made the port area an important part of economic development.Coastal ports have strong gathering energy.It attracts a large number of shipping and industrial enterprises to gather,thus forming a port industry in the region,and realizing economies of scale and scope through cooperative division of labor among enterprises of port industry and related industries.In order to realize the good development of port industry in Guangdong Province,it is necessary to clarify the actual development status of port industry in the region,the appropriate degree of regional resource endowment and the intensity of competition within the industry,and to select and excavate the port industry with the most suitable regional resources and environment.The idea of industrial niche emphasizes the influence of external environmental factors on industrial growth and development,which is used to characterize the utilization of resources and environment by industries in the region.In the process of survival,development and mutual competition and cooperation,each industry has the niche most suitable for the growth and development of industry itself.The niche of port industry represents the possession and allocation of regional resources by port industry.Adaptation and utilization.In order to promote the good development of the port industry in Guangdong Province,this paper introduces the ecological theory into the study of the port industry development,and uses the niche theory to analyze the internal competition and development situation of the port industry in Guangdong Province.This paper firstly introduces the background,purpose and significance of introducing niche theory into the research of port industry development in Guangdong Province.Secondly,it defines the concepts of port industry and industrial niche,introduces the basic theory of niche and the specific measurement model,and clarifies the actual development status of port industry in Guangdong Province from both qualitative and quantitative aspects.In this paper,we use niche breadth,intensity and overlap model to measure the competition and cooperation within the port industry of Guangdong Province,construct the evaluation index system of the port industry niche from three dimensions of market,resources and technology,and use niche situation theory and niche fitness theory to evaluate the relative development status of each sub-industry within the port industry of Guangdong Province and the corresponding regions.Finally,we use the grey forecasting model to forecast the future development trend of Guangdong Province's niche scientifically and reasonably,and find out the shortcomings of the existing development path,and put forward relevant suggestions to promote the development of Guangdong Province's port industry.Based on the above research,this paper draws the following conclusions:Firstly,the niche breadth and intensity of dominant species industry are generally higher than that of sub-dominant species industry,and the niche overlap degree of sub-dominant species industry is higher than that of associated species industry,and the niche overlap degree of seven port sub-industries is mostly distributed at the low overlap level below 0.3.Secondly,the existing scale and growth power of water transport industry are dominant in the economic system of the whole port industry.The automobile industry and chemical industry have similar development situation.The scale development is insufficient but has a good growth trend.The shipbuilding industry,the electric power industry and the steel industry are all deficient in the situation performance.The shipbuilding industry occupies and utilizes the resources of the region equally.Lack of iron and steel industry,as a dominant industry,makes extensive use of resources,but lacks the efficiency of utilization and the core competitiveness of the industry is insufficient.Thirdly,according to the existing development path,the port industry in Guangdong Province will be in a downward trend in the future,and the main reason for the downward trend of the port industry niche lies in the continuous decline of the technological niche.
