In recent years, the process of economic globalization has been accelerating. In the world, the total volume of goods in international trade has grown rapidly.container terminals and shipping companies are facing enormous pressure.Automated terminals can significantly reduce labor costs at all loading and unloading stages of the terminal, and improve the efficiency of loading and unloading while reducing the risk of terminal operations. Therefore, domestic and foreign terminals have begun to transition to semi-automated and fully automated. At present, the automatic container terminal yards at domestic and foreign usually adopt the layout method of vertical shoreline, and the twin stacking cranes cooperate to complete the yard loading and unloading operations. In the actual automated terminal yard management, terminal companies usually choose to set up a handshake area in each stack,so that the twin stacking cranes relay operation to complete the loading and unloading tasks. Therefore, how to find the most reasonable handshake area and the optimal task sequence under the most optimal handshake area is of great significance. This paper first summarizes the research status of yard stacking crane scheduling, points out the deficiencies in the existing research and put forward the research focus of this article and systematically describes the automated container terminal yard operation system. It proposes that the selection of the handshake area selection and task sequence optimization in the twin stacking cranes operation system is the key to the research. The problem is as follows:For the twin stacking cranes operation system of the automated container terminal, with the goal of minimizing the total completion time of the system, and considering the four interference situations between the twin stacking cranes cooperative operation,a mixed-integer programming model is established. The decision variables of the model include the optimal task sequence, the start and end time of each task, and the location of the optimal handshake area.In order to solve the model,a two-stage genetic algorithm incorporating simulated annealing is designed in this paper. The algorithm uses improved genetic algorithm combined with CPLEX solver.Finally,21 experiments are designed using several sets of examples of different sizes, and multiple sets of comparative experiments are performed to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm. The experimental results show that the model and algorithm in this paper can find the optimal handshake area and the optimal task sequence under the optimal handshake area setting for twin stacking cranes cooperative scheduling.Compared with setting the handshake area in the middle of the block,it can save 5%-15%of the completion time and effectively improve the operating efficiency of the twin stacking cranes. The algorithm designed in this paper can find approximate optimal solutions for different scale examples in effective time, and can improve the operation efficiency and algorithm performance.
