Five Development Concepts "innovation,coordination,green development,opening up,and sharing" proposes that adhering to green development and buil ding a new era of socialist ecological civilization with Chinese characteristics i s not only a necessary condition for achieving sustainable development,but als o an important embodiment of people's pursuit of a better life.Therefore,engi neering education needs to pay full attention to meet challenges faced by huma n beings,including the challenges from resource,environment and society.It is time for universities and colleges to explore Green Engineering Education(GEE)concept and cultivate the core competences of engineering students in green engineering.On the basis of clarifying the connotation and characteristics of GEE conc ept,this paper systematically analyzes the achievements and problems in the pr ocess of cultivating core green engineering competences of engineering students in China and foreign countries.On one hand,the work is beneficial to extract the core competences of green engineering.On the other hand,it highlights the practical significance of building a green engineering core competences syst em.Finally,based on the above research work,the author uses the Analytic Hierarchy Process analysis method to construct a green engineering core compete nces system for engineering students in three areas:cognition,emotion and motor skills,which includes three first-level indicators and 11 secondary indicators.The author also does a detailed research and analyses on the indicators for enhancing the application and practicality of the green engineering core compet ences system and providing theoretical support for creating an all-process,all-in clusion and all-students GEE in E University.
