| Faced with a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial change,innovation has manifested itself with new structural traits and developmental trends.Also,higher requirements as well as challenges for cultivating engineering talents of new generation have been newly proposed.Since 2013,when CPC Central Committee first conceptualize“industry-education integration” formally,stakeholders including universities,industries and public authorities have been constantly calling for new measures to be taken to boost educational revolution,and governments do issue several policy documents as well as executive orders in response.Nevertheless,since there exists a huge chasm between industries and universities in terms of organization mission,operating mechanisms,behavioral norms,etc.,problems such as low-frequent engagement,poor performance and short cycle have been exposed.From the perspective of reality and theoretical exploration,the cooperation between the two types of organizations in the process of education has always lacked theoretical guidance and effective practical constructions.In recent years,new engineering education reform initiatives also focus on this problem,hoping to solve it by actively designing collaborative mode between universities and enterprises.It is expected to improve the quality of engineering personnel training facing the national major strategies and the main economic battlefield through the breakthrough of industry-education integration mode and the exploration of effective construction.Based on reviewing relevant research on “industry-education integration” and “cultivating engineering talents” etc.,this study finds that extant literatures mostly adopt pure qualitative research methods such as single case study,comparative case study.Moreover,the most discussed topics are all about refining special practices and patterns of talent cultivation,thus leaving the openness,complexity and imbalance of talent cultivation process unexplored for a long time.In short,this study stands on the synergetic theory,which is theoretically adaptive to the core questions implied in aforementioned discussion – “how to improve the performance of industry-education integration projects.” To be more specific,this study first implements the grounded theory research method to identify the synergistic elements of engineering talent cultivation in industry-education integration from 17 cases,and iteratively conceptualize each element.Specifically,the synergistic elements include dynamic mechanism,incentive mechanism,formation mechanism,realization mechanism,restraint mechanism and feedback mechanism.Secondly,based on hierarchical analysis of those elements identified,the synergistic model of engineering talent cultivation in industry-education integration is established.Also,by conducting cross-case analysis,this study also derives several key features,which need further discussion.Then,in order to provide a firm guide which can direct industry-education integration projects of various kinds to replicate the synergistic model established in previous stages,this study probes the combination of synergistic elements which can improve the performance of industry-education integration projects by using first-hand survey data and implementing fs QCA.Finally,considering the status quo,this study provides suggestions in three perspectives: government optimizing top-level architecture,project subjects implementing synergistic elements in a hierarchical manner,and universities and enterprises jointly improving the efficiency and scope of synergistic combination.The expected contributions are two folds:(1)Basing on synergetic theory,this paper thoroughly and systematically discusses the engineering talent cultivation of industry-education integration,and establishes the synergistic model,which not only bridges the theoretical gaps,but also expands the theoretical horizon.(2)Using a hybrid method of empirical research and case study,this paper provides typical replicable programs for different types of industry-education integration projects,and gives suggestions and practical enlightenment from macro,middle and micro perspectives. |
