Since the reform and opening up,China witnesses unparalleled urbanization.Great success has been achieved,however,some problem arises and needs to be reflected.Lots of traditional streets and courtyards being demolished and urban tissue being flattened,In the meantime,the space cosmos for traditional settlement fades away and the one for the city changes a lot in a short period of time.The expression for time does not show respect to the history.In fact,city should not just aim at people’s rational appeal as residence,production,leisure,and transportation like a machine.The friendly space cosmos,increasing people’s life satisfaction and spiritual warmth in the traditional settlement can precipitate cultural self-confidence.The street and courtyard space in the traditional settlement is a spatial sequence that moves from public to private.It conforms to the traditional principle of people respecting nature and nature respecting people that was uphold by our ancestors.It is a life philosophy that embodies harmony between man and nature.With the geography and blood as the bond,it pays more attention to the human relation in the modern life.This paper analysis 4 inheritance methods for friendly space cosmos in the traditional settlement:1.Build residential quarter as urban tissue;2.Create friendly;space cosmos inside the building;3.Create friendly space cosmos outside the building;4.Set cosmos for the space between the inside and outside.The writer has made application of the friendly space cosmos outside of the building in the Shaoxing Yangxunqiao 2012-13 commercial and residential parcel project.
