Rail transit has been playing a vital role in comprehensive transportation system,there goes without saying that rail transit will stimulate economic growth of the regions alongside railway lines,its coverage and development pattern will exert widespread and far-reaching impact on the area where railway travels through.Being limited by geographical position and economic conditions,and with no railway passing through some cities and counties in ShaanxiGansu-Ningxia region,the railway infrastructure remains insufficient and is the bottleneck that hinders the economic growth of the region.As the implementation of Revitalization Plan for the Old Revolutionary Base Areas of Shaanxi,Gansu and Ningxia and the approval of Development Plan for Guanzhong Plain Urban Agglomeration,the region is ushering in a new round of railway construction climax,railway construction will play a vital role in promoting the development of old revolutionary base areas,improving the utilization of Red Tourism resources and consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation.With regard to making a scientific judgement on the railway network planning and its stimulation on economy growth,and to arranging the railway construction reasonably,it is of great significance to explore the coupling relationship between the rail transit development and economy growth under the current situation.To this end,the thesis mainly completes the tasks below:(1)Establishment of the Coupling ModelA qualitative analysis concerning the interaction relationship between economy growth and rail transit was conducted based on the passenger & freight volume(carried by railway)statistical data of the cities in the past decade.The development of economy and rail transit are taken as two subsystems of a coupling system,a coupling model was built with the coupling coordination degree as the index to assess the interaction relationship in a quantitative way.(2)Analysis of the Current Coupling RelationshipThe Greedy Algorithm,and OD Cost Matrix provided by ArcGIS platform were adopted to measure the rail transit accessibility of each city within the region,and the comprehensive development of the cities was evaluated via Principal Component Analysis,then the type of coupling relationship was calculated based on the above achievements,the results shows that the coordination degree varies a lot among the cities,the coordination degrees of Xi'an and its satellite cities are in a relatively high level,while the rail-vacant areas including Qingyang city,Gannan and Linxia Autonomous prefectures are in a status of disorder concerning coupling coordination,railway construction in the cities above is in desperate need to improve the situation.(3)Coupling Relationship of Railway Planning & Need of Economy GrowthThe expecting rail transit accessibility was calculated with the consideration of the railway construction plan(scheduled to go into operation in 2023),and the economic growth was forecast via Grey Model,with the above work completed,the expecting coupling coordination degree(year 2023)of the subsystems was calculated,the result shows that under the anticipated conditions,the coupling coordination level of each cities has been improved to different extents,within which Xi'an city changes from favorable coordination to high-class coordination,other cities including Qingyang city,Gannan and Linxia Autonomous prefectures,though the coordination degree improves phenomenally,the coupling relationship remains in grudging coordination.The process of railway construction needs to be further strengthened to accelerate the economy growth of the old revolutionary base areas.
