Study On Public Space Protection And Renewal Of Overseas Chinese Village Historical And Cultural District In Guangzhou

The Overseas Chinese village historical and cultural district,the only contemporary historical and cultural district in Guangzhou.,represents the western garden-style planning and the localization practice of overseas Chinese residential buildings in the 1950 s and 1960 s.It is a special case in the history of Guangzhou urban construction and one of the 26 traditional historical and cultural districts published in Guangzhou.With the development of the surrounding areas and the renewal of Overseas Chinese Village,the public space in the block gradually fails to adapt to the development of the historical and cultural district and the needs of multiple users.The significance of this study is to put forward protection and optimization principles and strategies for the organization of public space and the improvement of environment based on protecting the historical features of Guangzhou historical and cultural districts and combining with the needs of users.The thesis consists of five parts:The first chapter is the introduction,which discusses the background,application value and scientific significance of the topic.This paper analyzes the relevant concepts,the domestic and overseas advance of the protection and renewal of the public space of the historic districts,and the relevant literature of the Overseas Chinese village in Guangzhou.This paper provides the research basis and theoretical support for this topic,and proposes the research method and organizational structure of this paper.The second chapter is the overview of the historical and cultural district of Overseas Chinese village in Guangzhou.By collecting and sorting the existing papers,periodicals,newspapers,maps and other information,the development history of Overseas Chinese village is summarized into four stages: "development period,stagnation period,transformation period and independent and flexible renewal period".With summarizing and analyzes the development background,location change,general situation of block construction and social spatial structure of each period,and briefly introducing the initial planning and architectural characteristics of this district,the paper summarizes the historical and cultural value of this district and its corresponding public space,and determines the public space protection elements of Overseas Chinese village,The third chapter investigates the current situation of public space in the historical and cultural district of Overseas Chinese village in Guangzhou.To summarizes the current problems of this district and put forward corresponding protection and optimization principle,by means of field research,tracking records and in-depth interviews,this paper analyzes the current situation of public space from six aspects: location,architectural cultural resources,road system,public activity nodes,visual interface of public space and public life.The fourth chapter interprets the protection and utilization plan of Guangzhou Overseas Chinese village historical and cultural district,published and implemented in February 2020,and clarifies the goal of developing the SOHO model community with the integration of "culture,business,tourism and residence".Combined with the practices and achievements of "micro-renewal" of public space in this district from 2017 to 2019,this paper summarizes the specific methods of "micro-renewal" and the problems applied to the improvement of environment in historical and cultural districts.With the research thinking of problem-based learning(PBL),the fifth chapter discusses the spatial protect and renewal methods from the middle to the micro level.To put forward the protection and optimization suggestions from the perspectives of multicultural integrated development,spatial environmental protection and operation mechanism,etc.
