With the implementation of the “Belt and Road” strategy, more and more domestic contractors have stepped out to participate in international projects. The precondition of developing international markets is how to prevent risks more effectively. At present, the domestic construction industry has not yet formed a mature risk management system for overseas EPC project, and lacks experience in risk management. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to systematically study the risk management of overseas EPC projects, which will serve as a reference for more and more overseas EPC project contract management. In this thesis, the author analyzes the research status of EPC engineering risk management at home and abroad, overseas EPC engineering models, and prominent problems in risk management encountered by domestic construction enterprises when they "go global".On this basis, the risk factor identification of overseas EPC projects was studied.Based on literature review and enterprise engineering experience data,an initial risk list is formed, based on which an overseas EPC engineering risk factor questionnair e is formed.Through statistical and analysis of collected 158 valid surveys, identification the main risk factors of overseas EPC projects by Pareto 80/20 rule, finally established the risk factor hierarchy model Combining with the example of the Papua Ne w Guinea(PNG)school project. The risk factors of overseas EPC projects were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively.Eight experts were invited to score the importance of the risk factors of the PNG School project and the probability of occurrence. The analytic hierarchy process was used to determine the weight value of the risk factors. The comprehensive analysis method evaluates the risk factors and comprehensively evaluates the overall project objectives, and determines the risk factors and the risk level of the project. Finally, specific preventive measures have been proposed aiming at PNG school project's 11 major risk factors such as design standards risk, design defect risk, construction period risk, inspection&delivery risk, transportation risk, contractors own ability risk, technical risk, climate environmental risk, operation maintenance risk, supplier resource risk, and social security risk.
