| On March 14,2017,MOHURD issued the urban design management measures, which proposed to coordinate the urban landscape and reflect the cultural characteristics through the urban design, put forward the requirements for the spatial pattern, architectural scale and landscape design, and pointed out that the areas reflecting the historical features should prepare the urban design of key areas. As of June 2019,875 historic conservation areas have been designated in China. In addition, there are still a large number of historic areas. How to balance the relationship between historical protection and contemporary development has become the focus and difficulty of current urban design. As the preliminary work of urban design, site survey and analysis is the basic link and necessary premise to judge the advantages and disadvantages of the site,as well as to carry out the renovation. The historical and cultural area of Small Wild Goose Pagoda,as a typical historic area that has undergone thousands of years of evolution,is the epitome of Xi’an’s urban development.Since 2017,the historical and cultural area of Small Wild Goose Pagoda has started a new round of renovation.A large area of demolition and future renewal plan has caused a lot of discussions from all walks of life, which is also a common problem faced by a large number of historic areas in the process of rapid urban renewal. Therefore,it also leads to the thinking of this paper: for the historic area, how to determine the object and specific content of protection and renewal. Therefore, this paper takes this practical problem as the starting point, tries to start from the "survey and analysis" link in the early stage of urban design, and discusses the survey content and analysis method of the site in historic areas,in order to provide reference for the early stage of urban design in historic areas, and even more extensive types of areas. This paper introduces the concept and method of "historic urban landscape(HUL)",tries to extract the elements of site survey from the perspective of HUL,sort out the corresponding survey content and method, explore the fast analysis method of advantages and disadvantages, and build an easy-to-use operation procedure of urban design preliminary work.At the same time, taking the design experiment of the historical and cultural area of Small Wild Goose Pagoda as an example, the procedure of "survey and analysis" of the site is verified, and the design process of historic area protection and renewal is obtained. This paper focuses on the exploration of the procedure of site survey and analysis in historic area under the guidance of HUL concept and method. For the design experiment of the historical and cultural area of Small Wild Goose Pagoda,it is based on the data of many years’ curriculum practice of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, and combined with the way of supplementary investigation. On the one hand, based on the memory structure, the objects of the historic site survey are summarized as seven elements: "wind, water, forest, land, people, pulse and beauty",and the appropriate survey methods are matched according to their different attributes and contents. On this basis, using the principle of color science, choosing Adobe Photoshop,a qualitative and quantitative, simple and fast " chromatography multiply method " is proposed, which can realize the comprehensive analysis of "seven cognitive elements" of the site through chromatography design. On the other hand, combined with the experimental research on the protection and renewal of the historical and cultural area of Small Wild Goose Pagoda, the "4S design process" suitable for the protection and renewal of the historic area are obtained. |
