Research On The Aesthetic Meaning Of Lotus In Suzhou Classical Garden

In Suzhou classical gardens,"Lotus" is everywhere."Lotus" has become a cultural symbol with special symbolic meaning because of its external and internal beauty.Through the study of the substantial and abstract "Lotus" in Suzhou classical gardens,the "Lotus" in Suzhou folk customs,and the "Lotus" in the traditional culture of Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism,we can understand the deep reasons for the wide spread of lotus,which is of great significance to the study of Garden Aesthetics and lotus culture.This paper takes the lotus in Suzhou classical garden as an example,uses the method of induction and list analysis,combined with the field investigation of different lotus forms in many gardens,and interprets the "aesthetic meaning" of lotus.This paper mainly discusses the "Lotus" in Suzhou classical gardens,including not only the lotus in the water,but also the lotus in the paving and carving,as well as the lotus in the plaques and couplets.It explores the aesthetic implication of "Lotus" in Suzhou classical gardens from four aspects of "lotus in nature","lotus in words","lotus in life" and "lotus in culture".The first part is the lotus in nature,the lotus in the water and the abstract decorative lotus,which give people different aesthetic feelings.Through the analysis of a large number of pictures,we can taste the "beauty of posture" contained in the lotus in nature.The second part is about the lotus in words.By analyzing and appreciating the typical couplets with "Lotus" in Suzhou classical gardens,we can dig out the deep cultural value of the word "Lotus" and analyze the characters The third part is the lotus in life,taking the custom of lotus birthday,sacrifice,wedding and lotus appreciation as an example to explore the "folk beauty" of lotus through the interpretation of festival customs related to "Lotus";the fourth part is the lotus in culture,through the analysis of the lotus of Confucian gentleman,the lotus of Buddhist holiness and the lotus of Taoist auspiciousness In this paper,the author interprets the "beauty of philosophical thinking" contained in the tradition of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism.
