Highway engineering projects generally have the characteristics of high investment,long construction period,great material consumption.Under the premise of ensuring the quality,safety and time limit of the project up to standard,engineering construction company should as far as possible to save cost,improve the management level of construction enterprises and managers,accurate each key link in the construction process,strive to create greater profit space for the enterprise,improve enterprise comprehensive competitiveness.Therefore,the importance of construction project cost management is self-evident,and cost control must be one of the core contents of construction project control.This paper first introduces the relevant theories of project cost control,and then through the detailed elaboration and analysis of the whole process of project cost control for section 1 of Highway W,summarizes the problems and disadvantages of the traditional cost control methods adopted by the company.Then the author tries to use the earned value method to control the cost of the second section of Highway W,and introduces the implementation process of the whole cost control work in detail.Through the data collection and analysis of actual cases,it is proved that the earned value method plays a better role in the prediction and monitoring of the project schedule and cost control in the construction project cost management,and has strong operability,and can improve the economic benefits of enterprises.At the same time,the paper also expounds the guarantee measures that the earned value method needs to provide in the practical application process to ensure that the cost control can reach the most ideal state.Finally,it is suggested that the essence and defects of earned value method should be explored and perfected as soon as possible,so that it can be more widely applied in China's engineering construction and provide better support for China's more economic,effective,accurate engineering project management.
