Following Deng’s policy of reform(1978)and subsequent “opening up” of China, polices of resettlement have gone hand in hand with rapid urban growth. From the process of old city reconstruction to the large-scale planning and construction of new cities, the population affected by these transformations is undoubtedly huge. With the restriction of UGB regulations on potential new development sites and the increasing demand for new properties from the expanding middle class population, both developers and local governments continue to designate demolition and redevelopment uses for existing urban areas.Since the 1980 s,the study of urban social space changes has been carried out in China along the macro and micro paths. In the aspect of macro research,it mainly USES the overall data to describe the urban social spatial structure and morphological changes by analyzing the social and spatial attributes of the urban population.Wang yi,gu chaolin and feng jian studied the evolution of urban social spatial structure in nanjing and Beijing respectively.Micro research focuses more on micro factors such as shantytowns, marginal communities, black communities, communities in lowincome communities, and individual life experience.By means of questionnaire survey and in-depth interview with families or individuals,it understands and explains the changes and evolution of urban social space through the changes of micro social life trajectory. However, due to the limitations of culture, politics and research, the impact is rarely measured on a human scale.Attempts are made to link macro research with micro research to verify and repair our destinyThe regional location before and after city relocation is drawn on the graph, and the measures of integration and connectivity are given. In addition,at the micro level,we have conducted more detailed studies in the three resettlement fields.Through the questionnaire survey of residents,we have a more qualitative understanding of the impact of the demolition process on the social level. The analysis of preliminary results will show that the evolution of urban renewal dwelling in inner city of changsha presents unique time, space and social characteristics. For the residents affected by the relocation, although the quality of resettled housing has improved, these communities are often located in less integrated parts of the city;Local accessibility remains the same as micro-enterprises reappear to serve these resettled communities; However, due to the improvement of the global accessibility of public transportation system, the degree of connection with the urban network has increased, maintaining the continuation of the social relationship between residents and citizens. To sum up,urban renewal will continue to move low-quality urban construction out of the city centre to meet the needs of new developments. However, the social impact of displacement is still difficult to measure. On the one hand, existing social networks break up spatial communities, but on the other hand they create new connections.Urban planners should maintain awareness of the possible long-term social impact of these policies and market demands.
