Because of the long construction period,the large number of construction personnel,the large flow of personnel and the complex construction links,the human resource management of construction enterprises is a complex,comprehensive and systematic work.At present,the management mode adopted by Zhongtian branch is the combination of "company management" and "project management",that is,the management of the company manages the project department through planning,organization,coordination and control,while the project department mainly manages the progress,quality,safety,cost and duration.The project manager is very important in the construction company.They play a connecting role,have irreplaceable importance in solving the human resource management problems.Therefore,the construction of the project manager competency model of Zhongtian branch is of great practical significance to improve the competency of the project manager,enhance the quality of the project manager and build a high-quality project manager team.Zhongtian branch is a subsidiary of Baye group.It has been established for a short time and developed rapidly in recent years.Various talents,including project manager,have been unable to meet the company’s development and seriously restricted the company’s sustainable development.Starting from the current management situation of Zhongtian branch,this paper finds out the problems and causes in management,and then analyzes the current competency situation of project manager of Zhongtian branch.The existing problems are: poor sense of responsibility,low comprehensive ability and quality,lack of project experience,lack of learning ability,and low recognition of corporate culture and strategy.The main reasons for the problems are: the project manager’s competency model has not been established,the selection mechanism is unreasonable,the assessment of the project manager’s motivation has been ignored,the training mechanism is not perfect,the performance assessment standard is single,and the incentive to the project manager has been ignored.Through problem analysis,the necessity of establishing competency model of Zhongtian branch is pointed out.In order to establish the competency model of project manager in Zhongtian branch comprehensively and effectively,on the basis of learning and drawing lessons from the competency theories at home and abroad,this paper extracts the competency characteristics of project manager by the methods of literature analysis,post analysis of project manager and behavior event interview,and establishes the primary competency model of project manager,which includes interpersonal skills,knowledge,and management ability.In order to further analyze and verify the preliminary model,questionnaire survey,factor analysis,reliability analysis and validity analysis were carried out by SPSS.Finally,the competency model of project manager in Zhongtian branch was established.Finally,the application of the project manager competency model is discussed briefly.The project manager competency model plays an important role in the recruitment and selection of project managers,training and development,performance appraisal and salary management,and has a profound impact on improving the overall strength of the project manager team of Zhongtian branch.
