In the era of knowledge economy,the competition of comprehensive strength between different countries depends on the quality of talents.The key to talents’ quality is the level of higher education.Engineering education,as an important subsystem of higher education,plays a pivotal role during this competition.At present,although China has established a relatively complete system of higher engineering education system,but weak disciplinary integration,lack of practicality,low innovation ability and other problems still exist in the specific work,the main reason is that the Higher Engineering Education Curriculum System and the teaching mode is unreasonable,the curriculum system cannot keep pace with the times to update and perfect itself.Based on this,this paper focuses on the study of higher engineering education curriculum teaching mode.In order to solve the problems in the development of higher engineering education,the author introduces STEM education into this paper to make up for the deficiency in the development of higher engineering education,and tries to use the essence of STEM education to enrich and perfect the teaching of higher engineering education mode.This study is divided into three parts:In the first part of this paper,we mainly analyze the STEM-related academic literatures,sort out the development of STEM,clarify the essence of STEM,grasp the direction of STEM research,and make a direction for the following research.In the second part,the author introduces some existing higher engineering education curriculum models,such as CDIO teaching model,problem-based PBL teaching model and project-based PBL teaching model,in order to make reference for proposing the new teaching model of higher engineering education.Secondly,make a Survey on the Satisfaction of Chinese Higher Engineering Education Learners by questionnaire to find out specific problems in the current higher engineering education and clarify learners’ needs.Finally,adopt SWOT method to analyze the advantages,disadvantages,opportunities and threats of China’s higher engineering education in order to find out its development bottleneck and breakthrough point.In the third part,based on the above work and interdisciplinary concept of STEM education,with the aid of learning by doing theory and constructivism,this paper puts forward the teaching model of O2 O integrated higher engineering education based on "PBL tower",and test this new mode by case analysis in order to make up for our higher engineering education system.
