Under the background of global integration and modernize industries, it needs much discipline, many aspects of the international cooperation and communion to solve engineering problems. Therefore, the higher engineering education is endowed with different value judgment standard, the innovation and development of education is guided by different values, in order to adapt to the social development and people’s all-round development.In this dissertation, the value orientation of higher engineering education has been studied in detail. The aims are to explain its meaning and mutual relationship and to define the key features of the objects of higher engineering education for the demands of the current society. From a historical perspective, the evolution of value orientation has been discoursed, the performance and source of the value imbalance has been stated, and the coordination of value orientation is the inevitable development way for engineering education has been addressed. Based on the analysis of the practical initiatives for higher engineering education at home and broad, it has been proposed that the meaning and principles of coordinated education pattern for the value orientation of higher engineering education. In addition, it has been tried to present that the channel of the value orientation coordinated education pattern for adapting the requirements of globalization and industrialization.Literature review, comparative analysis and practical research methods has been employed for addressing the state of development, characteristics of value orientation, and necessity for coordination education in this thesis. The initial stage of higher engineering education originated from the practical technical education. The reason for a huge development of higher engineering education is based on the productivity function of science and technology for socio-economic development. Therefore, it is reasonable that the instrument rationality orientation of the science and technology for higher education. The new requirements have been proposed because of the exaggeration of science and technology instrument rationality for higher education and the standard of science and technology talents for times, which lead to the value orientation imbalance of higher engineering education, especially the defects of humanity. The self-consciousness of humanist scholars result in a reflective and critical attitude to judge and reward higher engineering education, which makes us recognize the education mode of value orientation coordination is the only way to reform the engineering education. In this model, it is critical aspects for maintaining the traditional education methods of instrument rationality, introducing the problem-centered practical learning, and building the network teaching approach. In addition, the connection of cross subjects and the integration and optimization of engineering knowledge are emphasized. Meanwhile the integration of the learning and practice for humanities and social knowledge makes the value rationality as the guide and service provider for instrument rationality. Furthermore, the students are able to fulfill the professional requirements. Finally, the all-round development of human being can be realized.
