Improving energy efficiency as the best way to maintain economic growth and reduce energy consumption has increasingly attracted the attention of governments and companies around the world.Because energy intensity is easy to calculate and facilitates international comparison,it is often used to measure energy efficiency,so it has also received widespread attention in countries,enterprises,and academia.Today,China is in a critical period of industrial structure transformation and optimization.Therefore,studying the impact path of industrial structure optimization on energy intensity,and clarifying the relationship between industrial structure optimization and energy intensity,can not only further deepen the understanding of the impact of industrial structure optimization and energy intensity,but also provide suggestions for China's industrial and energy policies..This article analyzes the status of China's three industries and the industrial structure and energy intensity of the eastern,central and western regions.The results show that China's industrial structure has made significant progress.The effect of the economic center of gravity shifting from the secondary industry to the tertiary industry is obvious and there is a trend of further shifting.From the national level,regional level,and industrial level,the energy intensity has been declining in recent years.The research data in this paper use panel data from 30 provinces in China from2000 to 2017.The panel space lag model is used to study the direct and spillover effects of industrial structure optimization on energy intensity;the recursive path model is used to analyze the indirect impact paths and mediation effects of industrial structure optimization on energy intensity;the panel threshold model is used to study influence of economic level and urbanization level on the relationship between industrial structure optimization and energy intensity,The fixed-effect panel model is used to estimate and compare the regional differences in the direct impact of industrial structure optimization on energy intensity in the three major regions of east,middle and west.The results show that: 1.From 2000 to 2017,the energy intensity of all provinces in China had a significant positive spatial autocorrelation.Comparing the Moran scatter charts at different periods shows that there is a trend of spatial concentration of energy intensity in various provinces in China.The level of economic development,urbanization,and industrial structure optimization have significant spatial spillover effects on energy intensity.Increasing the level of economic,urbanization,and industrial structure optimization can reduce energyintensity,However,the effect of space spillover on energy intensity is less than the direct impact on energy intensity.2 The level of urbanization and energy consumption structure have a significant direct intermediary effect on the optimization of industrial structure and energy intensity,and the economic level and energy consumption structure have a significant chain intermediary effect.The direct intermediary effect and the chain intermediary effect of the energy consumption structure are manifested.In order to promote energy intensity,the direct mediation effect of the urbanization level and the chain mediation effect of economic level are manifested as an inhibitory effect on energy intensity.The overall mediation effect results show that the industrial structure has an indirect inhibitory effect on energy intensity through mediation variables.3 The level of economic development and urbanization as a threshold variable has a significant threshold value.With the increase of the threshold,the optimization level of the industrial structure is continuously weakening the energy intensity,and all provinces have exceeded the threshold in 2017.It shows that the difference between regional economic level and urbanization level has basically no effect on the relationship between industrial structure optimization level and energy intensity.After that,China is divided into three major regions: east,central,and western regions.The differences in the direct impact of industrial structure optimization on energy intensity in different regions are shown.The results show that from the east to the west,the level of industrial structure optimization on energy intensity is increasing in sequence.Finally,based on the conclusions of the study,this article puts forward suggestions to strengthen the links between regions,advance the level of industrial structure optimization,and improve the quality of industrial structure optimization.This paper has 17 pictures,11 tables,and 90 references.
