Based on the energy input-output analysis, the purpose of this paper was to establish a simple and comprehensive index——agriculture sustainable development index(ASDI).Taking Yinjiang county as an empirical case, the results showed that:Indicator evaluation method was the main evaluation method of agricultural sustainable development, and had weaknesses such as overlapping, impractical and excessive number of indicators. On the demand of theory and method innovation, the purpose of this paper was to establish a simple and comprehensive index——agriculture sustainable development index(ASDI).Based on the energy input-output analysis, and taking Tongren,a typical ecological fragile area with Karst landform as a study case, this paper had the main conclusions as:1.The ASDI was feasible but needed improvement. In this paper,S curve and parabolic equation were used to determine the inflection point and the critical point of investment and production, and found the ASDI did exist. However, only agricultural input/output considered in this paper,it is necessary to make a more comprehensive study for the index in the future.2.The ASDI in Tongren was low, thus its capacitility of sustainable development was weak. The main reason of the negative effect laid in improper fertilization. The ecological environment in Tongren was so fragile, that it was not appropriate to increase fertilizer energy input in a disasterous year.3.The agricultural sustainable development situation in west Tongren was better than eastern area. The places where were prone to the negative ecological effects in east area included Songtao,Bijiang,Wanshan and Yuping, while Yinjiang in the west area.In 2014,the ASDI sorted as: Jiangkou > Wanshan > Yuping > Sinan > Songtao > Shiqian > Yanhe > Dejiang > Yinjiang > Bijiang, mostly between 0.32 and 0.57.4.As an index for the agricultural sustainable development,ASDI may provide a reference for the warning of ecological security.ASDI can be used to determine whether the investment level reasonable, and the best invest point. The results will contribute to adjust the energy structure and planting structure, help to achieve more coordinated development.
