Study On The Characteristics And Protection Evaluation Of The Habitat Community Of Syzygium Album

Syzygium album is a Chinese special tree specie which is extremely endangered and rare.There is only one adult plant and several seedings.Other saplings and adult trees couldn't be found nearby.If we don't protect it well,Syzygium album will become extinct because of its rare quantity,narrow distribution area and great difficulties in breeding.Also the change of the global climate and environment and the influence of human activities will lead the extinction of Syzygium album.Through the research of flora,structural features,diversity of species,ecological niche and interspecific competition,this paper is aimed at mastering the development trend of this population,and the relationship of the interspecific competition,and probing its endangered mechanism and conservation status,so that we can offer the important theoretical basis to the population propagation and decisions for protection and management of Syzygium album.Here are the results:(1)There are 246 vascular plants in the researching area of Syzygium album habitat,which belongs to 80 families,171 generas.The composition is very complex.From families and generas,tropical account for the largest and dominate the advantage.And in tropical plants,the pantropical plant account for the largest.The flora,which has the obvious characters of both tropical and temperate,has the characters of tropical flora of middle and South Asia.(2)We analyzing the diameter at breast height level and high level of the arbors in Syzygium album habitat,and compare them with those of the population of Szygium album.We find that the main populations are all growth population,except Lithocarpus litseifolius which is recessionary population.Among them,the populations of Schima superba and Cyclobalanopsis pachyloma are fast growers.And the populations of Lithocarpus iteaphyllus and Cryptocarya chinensisare are slow growers.The number of seedings of Syzygium album is large,but the low survival rate makes the development of Syzygium album need protection.(3)We have made the statistical calculation of a diversity of the population of Syzygium album,and we have got the conclusion:the index of the species diversity:shrub layer>arborous layer>inter layer>herb layer;the degree of dominance of species:herb layer>inter layer>arborous layer>shrub layer;the evenness of species:inter layer>arborous layer>shrub layer>herb layer.The whole population has rich species,a complex structure and a large number of species individuals.The whole ecosystem has the high stability and strong ability of natural regeneration.(4)The research of population niche of Syzygium album shows:In arborous layer,the index of niche breadth of Schima superba is highest;Ardisia quinquegona,Lithocarpus iteaphyllus,Psychotria asiatica of the shrub layer and Cibotium barometz,Lophatherum gracile of the herb layer also have the higher index.From the calculation of niche overlap,we can find that the dominant populations of the arborous layer,the shrub layer and the herb layer have the different levels of niche overlap in the population of Syzygium album.The dominant populations of the shrub layer and herb layer have the higher overlapping ratio,and the sharing trend between the species is obvious.While the overlapping ratio in arborous layer is lower and the sharing trend is not so obvious.The non-overlapping ratio of Syzygium album is higher and Syzygium album has no niche overlap with Cyclobalanopsis pachyloma,Lithocarpus litseifolius,Woodwardia japonica?(5)According to the research of the interspecies relation of Syzygium album,we can know that the pressure of interspecies competition of Syzygium album is focused on the associated species whose DHB are between 5?10 cm?30?35 cm and over 40 cm.The Cryptocarya chinensis whose competitiveness is much higher than other competitive species has the highest competitiveness in the 11 associated species.(6)According to the comments on the endangered degree of the 7endangered plants like Syzygium album,we can know that Camellia petelotii and Glyptostrobus pensilis are vulnerable species,Carpinus putoensis,Syzygium album,Abies beshanzuensis,Ostrya rehderiana and Parashorea chinensis are endangered species,and Syzygium album has been endangered which needs to be protected;According to the calculation of the numerical of Protection status and the comments of the specialists and local foresters,Syzygium album is in a good condition,and the protective measures have been effective.
