Arable land protection has always been a hot issue of concern to our country.Taking Xuanhan County of Sichuan Province as an example,a structural equation model was established based on the data of 215 households in Xuanhan County from the perspective of the farmers’ peasants to study the influencing factors of farmers’ cognition of cultivated land protection. The study concludes as follows:(1)Cognition level of farmer households with different levels of economic development is different: Farmers with low level of regional economic development have higher awareness of the importance of farmland protection and higher awareness of the externalities of farmland protection than regional economic development.Farmers in medium-developed regions are more aware of the protection of basic farmland than rural households in less developed regions and rural households in developed regions.(2)Geographical power is the most important direct influencing factor for farmer’s cognition of cultivated land protection. The direct impact of personal and cultural power on cognition of farmer’s cultivated land protection is weakened in turn, and the standardized factor load is 0.698,0.479 and 0.261,respectively.Among them, the IND4 type of farmer households has the largest contribution to individual strength, with a factor loading factor of-0.74,followed by the farmer’s education level(IND3),and a factor loading factor of 0.61.Per capita arable land area(ARE3)and grain price level(ARE2)contributed the most to the regional force, and the factor load factors were 0.65 and 0.62 respectively. The Agricultural Subsidy Standard(CUL4)has the largest contribution to the cultural latent variables, with a factor loading factor of 0.84,followed by the farmer’s farmland protection compensation price(CUL3),and a factor loading factor of 0.82.Based on the above findings, relevant countermeasures and policy recommendations are proposed to increase farmers’ cognizance of arable land protection and incentives for peasant farmland protection:(1)Strengthen the propaganda and education of peasant households, establish a supervision and management mechanism for cultivated land protection, and increase farmers’ awareness of farmland protection.(2)Standardize the food price system, increase the per capita arable land, and further increase farmers’ awareness of farmland protection.(3)Expand the sources of compensation funds for cultivated land protection, increase the implementation of the government’s farmland protection policy, and increase farmers’ willingness to protect cultivated land.
