As a new type of soil management method,the pruned grape branches covered in vineyards have been applied to the eastern foothill of Helan Mountain in Ningxia.However,there are few studies on the effects of within-row mulching on micro-ecological environment,microclimate,grape and wine quality.In this research,the five-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in Jinshan of the Eastern Foothill of Helan Mountain was chosen as the experimental plot.Taking clear tillage as a contrast,the effects of within-row mulching mulching of grapevine winter cutting versus corn straw on soil nutrients,soil microorganisms,temperature and humidity of soil and leaf curtain,and quality of grape and wine,were studied.These works would provide theoretical and practical basis for the application of this technique and the sustainable cultivation of wine grape in the Eastern Foothill of Helan Mountain,Ningxia.Main results are as follows:(1)The contents of alkali-hydrolyzed nitrogen,available phosphorus,available potassium,total nitrogen,total phosphorus,total potassium and organic matter in 0-60 cm soil layer were significantly increased by within-row mulching after 17 months.Among the two treatments,the effect of maize straw within-row mulching on improving soil nutrients was better.(2)Within-row mulching increased the abundance of Proteus,Acidobacteria,Actinomycetes and Curvularia,and increased soil microbial diversity.Among the two mulching treatments,the effect of corn straw within-row mulching was better.(3)Within-row mulching reduced the air temperature,humidity and diurnal range temperature of grapevine leaf curtain layer,significantly increased the soil moisture of 0-40 cm soil layer,reduced the soil temperature of the soil layer,and reduced the variation of soil temperature.Among the two mulching treatments,the effect of in-line mulching on grape winter pruning was obvious.(4)Within-row mulching increased the contents of reducing sugar,total acid and soluble solids in grape berries,increased the contents of anthocyanins and phenols in wine,deepened the color of grape wine and enhanced the sense of structure.Among the two mulching treatments,the quality of grape wine covered by within-row pruning was the best.In conclusion,the two kinds of within-row mulching improved soil nutrients,enriched soil microbial diversity,maintained soil moisture,regulated the temperature and humidity of grape leaf curtain layer,and improved the quality of grape and wine.Among them,grape winter pruning has certain advantages in improving the temperature and humidity of the leaf curtain layer and the quality of berries and wine.Therefore,vineyard within-row mulching in the eastern foot of Helan Mountain in Ningxia has a wide range of application prospects.
