Background:In the process of costal cartilage rhinoplasty and costal cartilage carving we found that.the graft carved by the curved costal cartilage is more likely to bend,and the costal cartilage carved by the straight costal cartilage is not easy to bend.Therefore,in order to avoid surgical complications caused by bending of costal cartilage,it is generally desirable to obtain more straight costal cartilage in clinical work.However,it is well known that the acquisition of clinical straight costal cartilage is very difficult.Then we ask the question:What is the difference in the grafts carved by the curved costal cartilage and the straight costal cartilage?What is the difference if you engrave it into implants of different thicknesses?Therefore,we designed the following animal in vitro experiments to get the corresponding conclusions.Objective: To compare the bending degree of rib cartilage grafts with different thickness in vitro through animal in vitro tests,so as to avoid the nasal deviation caused by the bending of costal cartilage during rhinoplasty.Methods: Eight healthy porcine costal cartilage were quickly taken out in 30 minutes,The curved costal cartilage and the straight costal cartilage were classified and screened,and the extracted costal cartilage was engraved.The cost of the costal cartilage piece was 4 cm in length,0.4 cm in width and variable in thickness,0.1 cm,0.2 cm,0.3 cm,0.4 cm,0.5 cm,respectively.The cartilage pieces carved from the curved rib cartilage were group A,and the cartilage pieces carved into the straight costal cartilage were group B.Each group was divided into groups of 0.1cm,0.2cm,0.3mm,0.4mm,and 0.5mm according to the thickness of the cartilage pieces,8 cases were repeated in each group.Whether it is curved rib cartilage or straight costal cartilage,the central part of the costal cartilage is taken during engraving,and the perichondrium is completely removed.After engraving,the cartilage piece is photographed at 5 min,15 min,30 min,1 h,2 h,3 h,1 day and recorded.Then use the graphics processing software(accurately measure the curvature of each photo),and then through statistical analysis of the data to obtain the in vitro experimental comparison results.Results:(1)In group A,the warp cartilage of 1 mm,2 mm,and 3 mm thick caries changed greatly from 5 min to 30 minutes.At 30 minutes,the mean values ??of warpage change were: 7.588°,4.844°,4.198°,and the change in warpage is less than 2 degrees in the period of 30 minutes to 1 day,No clinical significance.The warpage of 4 mm and 5 mm thick costal cartilage changed little during the whole period from 5 min to 1 day.No clinical significance.(2)In group B,the curvature of the 1 mm,2 mm,and 3 mm thick costal cartilage changed less than 2 degrees during the whole period from 5 min to 1 day.which had no clinical significance.The warpage of 4 mm and 5 mm thick costal cartilage changed little during the whole period from 5 min to 1 day.no clinical significance.Conclusion:(1)The costal cartilage piece carved from the middle part of the straight costal cartilage has no obvious warpage;the the 1-3mm thick costal cartilage piece carved by the curved costal cartilage has obvious warpage,and the warping direction is the same as that of the donor costal cartilage.(2)The thickness of the cartilage piece carved by the curved rib cartilage is more than 2degrees within 30 minutes of the cartilage piece of 1-3 cm.The warpage degree has clinical significance,This degree of warping has clinical significance,The thinner the costal cartilage,the easier it is to bend,Therefore,when thin and curved grafts such as Lateral Crutal Onlay Grafts and Alar Rim Graft are needed in clinical work,curved costal cartilage can be used for carving.(3)4cm and 5cm thick costal cartilage tablets carved from both the curved costal cartilage and the straight costal cartilage all time period of warp change within 3 degrees,no clinical significance.Therefore,when the thickness of the graft is greater than 4mm such as Dorsal Onlay Graft in clinical work,both straight costal cartilage and curved costal cartilage can be used for carving.(4)The change of warpage of costal cartilage in the middle part of the straight costal cartilage did not change significantly with the increase of in vitro time.
