| Objective: The correlation between IGF-1/IGFBP-3 and PCOS was determined detecting the levels of IGF-I/IGFBP-3 in different patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, which then in turn provided a new way of the diagnosis and treatment for polycystic ovary syndrome. Methods: From October 2018 to October 2019,97 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)were selected from the outpatient department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the second hospital of Dalian medical university, and 50 non-PCOS patients who received treatment for other reasons were selected as controls.According to the serum androgen level(the normal range of testosterone is 0.09-0.48ng/ml in our hospital),PCOS patients were divided into hyperandrogenemia group(45 cases)and androgen normal group(52 cases),and in accordance with the HOMA-IR,the patients were divided into insulin resistance group(50 cases)and non-insulin resistance group(47 cases),and with the body mass index(BMI),the patients were divided into obesity group(53 cases)and non-obesity group(44 cases).According to the ratio of LH to FSH,31 cases were matched to high LH group and 66 cases to normal LH group. The levels of IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 were detected by ELISA in each group. The levels of IGF-1and IGFBP-3 in PCOS patients and healthy control group were analyzed and compared. The levels of IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in each group of PCOS patients and healthy control group also were analyzed and compared.Based on the results,we aimed at assessing changes in serum IGF-1 and serum IGFBP-3 levels in PCOS patients and their influencing factorsResults: The levels of IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in PCOS patients were higher than those in non-PCOS patients. The LH and BMI of PCOS patients were higher than those of the control group, and there was no significant difference in age and FSH between the two groups. The levels of IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in the hyperandrogenemia group were higher than those in the control group, but there was no significant difference compared with the androgen normal group. The serum IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 of insulin resistance group in PCOS patients were higher than those of control group, and the serum IGFBP-3 of insulin resistance group in PCOS patients was higher than that of non-insulin resistance group. The serum IGF-1 of non-insulin resistance group in PCOS patients was higher than that of the control group, but the serum IGFBP-3 was not.The serum IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in the obese group were higher than those in the control group. In addition, the serum IGFBP-3 of obese group was higher than that of non-obese group. There was no difference in serum IGF-1 between the obese group and the non-obese group.Serum IGF-1 was higher in the non-obese group of PCOS patients than those in the control group, and there was no significant difference of IGFBP-3 between the two groups. The serum IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in the high LH group were higher than those in the normal LH group and the control group, but IGFBP-3 was not.Serum IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in patients with normal LH in PCOS were higher than those in control group.LH and T are weakly correlated and positively correlated,HOMA-IR and BMI are weakly correlated and positively correlated.Elevated IGF-1 in PCOS patients is associated with abnormal LH and has no direct correlation with BMI,T,and HOMA-IR.The elevation of IGFBP-3 in the serum of PCOS patients is related to the abnormalities of BMI and HOMA-IR,but not directly related to LH and T.Conclusions: Serum IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 can promote the development of PCOS.The increase of serum IGF-1 in patients with PCOS is related to the increase of LH,but has no direct relation with hyperandrogenemia, insulin resistance and obesity. The serum IGFBP-3 level of PCOS patients can be affected by BMI or IR respectively, which has nothing to do with hyperandrogenemia and abnormal LH.The interaction between the increase of serum IGF-1 and hyperandrogenemia, insulin resistance, obesity and high LH in PCOS patients mainly depends on the regulation of IGFBP-3.The increase of serum IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in PCOS is the result of many factors. |
