Objective:To observe the effects of three different intestinal preparation protocols on the quality of colonoscopy and patient acceptance when using polyethylene glycol electrolyte(PEG)and senna as an intestinal cleansing agent for intestinal preparation. So as to provide guidance and reference for clinical use of drugs. Methods:A total of 293 patients scheduled for colonoscopy were randomly divided into group A(n=98),group B(n=97),and group C(n=98).Group A received oral 1LPEG in the evening before examination, and 2L PEG with 30 ml of simethicone in the morning of examination.Group B was given 1L PEG orally in the evening before examination, and 2L PEG with 30 ml of simethicone in the morning of examination. In group C,10 g of senna was taken soked in boiling water in the evening before examination, and 2 L of normal saline were given in the morning of examination.Three groups of colonoscopy quality, adverse reactions, and patient acceptance were compared. Results:Group A and B had higher Boston Bowel Preparation Scale in overall and right-side colon(P<0.05).The transverse colon score of group B was higher than that of group C(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the scores of each intestines segment between the A group and the B group(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the rate of intestinal preparation meeting the requirements among three groups(P>0.05).As for adverse reactions, the incidence of abdominal distension in group B was higher than that in group A and C(P<0.05).Meanwhile,the incidence of nausea and vomiting in group C was lower than that in group A and B(P<0.05).The proportion of group C refused to repeat colonoscopic examination was lower than that of group A and group B(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the rate of intestinal preparation completion between the three groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:In the PEG regimen, the 1L+2L PEG scheme was superior to the 2L+1L PEG scheme because of the high intestinal cleanliness and less adverse reactions,,but the patient acceptance still needs to be improved. The senna method can not be compared with the PEG regimen in the cleanliness of the intestines, but it can still meet the basic clinical needs, with fewer adverse reactions and high patient acceptance, which is a cost-effective solution.
