Objective: Incision complication is a major complain for patients undergo thoracolumbar surgery.Tough measure could be taken during perioperative period;incision complication is yet to completely prevent.Currently vacuum sealing drainage is widely used to treat complex wound in orthopedics. To discuss the clinical effect of VSD for treatment of incision complication of thoracolumbar surgery. Methods: A retrospective study of 25 patients with wound complication of thoracolumbar surgery during Jan 2010 to Dec 2018.According to the postoperative treatment,11 patients underwent VSD treatment,15 patients underwent Non-VSD treatment. The data was documented and assessed concerning postoperative hospital stay and wound healing time. Results: The postoperative hospital stay in VSD group(26±12.11d)is significantly shorter than Non-VSD group,as well as wound healing time [VSD group(11.27±4.71d)versus Non-VSD group(23.86±10.24d)].The postoperative hospital stays and wound healing time between two groups shows significant difference. No recurrent case was found in both groups. Conclusion: VSD treatment can reduce hospital stay and wound-healing time in patients with incision complication of thoracolumbar surgery,as well as labor of doctor, therefore shows advantage comparing regular dressing.
