| This report is based on the simulated consecutive interpreting of a speech entitled“Innovating to Zero” by Bill Gates.The speech is about solving global warming and energy issues through technological innovations.With the guidance of Dynamic Equivalence Theory,the author illustrates the whole interpreting process and analyzes typical cases with related interpreting strategies.Based on the principle of “first in terms of meaning and second in terms of style”,he extends the application of this theory to interpreting in comparison with its usual use in translation.In terms of interpreting strategies,the author mainly analyzes Conversion,Omission and the Use of Four-character Chinese Structure at lexical level.Combination,Division and Paraphrase at syntactical level as well as Amplification and Reference at discoursal level are also discussed.The report consists of four chapters.Chapter One presents background information of the speech and task requirements briefly.Chapter Two is process description,mainly introducing preparations before the simulated consecutive task,procedure of interpreting practice,and assessment after the interpreting.Chapter Three deliberates the theoretical framework and case analysis in detail.In this chapter,the author discusses Eugene A.Nida’s Dynamic Equivalence Theory in detail,and from a micro perspective analyzes related interpreting strategies applied in the process under the guidance of the Dynamic Equivalence Theory.In Chapter Four,Conclusion,the author summaries the values and limitations of this simulated consecutive interpreting. |
