A Study Of Simultaneous Interpreting Fluency Strategies From The Perspective Of The Effort Model

With the development of globalization,various countries began to communicate with one another in different areas,which will have far-reaching influence on the development of the career of interpreters and even the prosperity of a country.Simultaneously,simultaneous interpreting plays a more and more significant role in realizing cross-cultural communication.Naturally,to improve interpreting fluency can be of top priority,for it is one of the most important criteria for assessing the quality of interpreting.Simultaneous interpreting fluency strategies are chosen to be the topic studied from the perspective of the Effort Model.Besides,it is based on the simultaneous interpreting of the speech of Bill Gates at Beida in 2017.Consequently,it indicates that the purpose of this thesis is to study simultaneous interpreting fluency strategies.Literatures research method and qualitative research method will be applied to complete the thesis step by step.First,through the review of previous studies,it is discovered that the interpreting fluency strategies are worth studying,for few scholars in the past provide corresponding strategies to cope with the influence of interpreting fluency by different categories of variables.Second,some factors influencing interpreting fluency in the interpretation of the speech of Bill Gates at Beida in 2107 will be analyzed under the guidance of the Effort Model by applying qualitative research method;third,proper strategies promoting the interpreting fluency in the interpretation of this speech will be analyzed in accordance with both academic and practical experience of some scholars in the past.Ultimately,it is concluded that some variables influencing the fluency of thesimultaneous interpreting can be analyzed under the guidance of five inequalities in the Effort Model.Furthermore,once the record of the interpreter is carefully listened,analysis of certain strategies applied in the interpretation of the speech can provide certain tactics for interpreting learners to improve the quality of interpreting and encourage more scholars to explore simultaneous interpreting fluency strategies,therefore,it will make contributions to the prosperous development of the study and practice of simultaneous interpreting.
