With the continuous development of information technology,a variety of new teaching ideas such as MOOC and Micro-lecture and Flipped Classroom have appeared,which provided more ideas and methods for the reform and development of teaching.In recent years,game-based learning has obtained widespread concern.In 2014,the new media alliance tried to list games and game-based learning as technologies that will be applied to use by the mainstream in the next two or three years in “Horizon Report”.More and more scholars try to keep the entertainment of games and excavate the potential of games in teaching,combine games with teaching,so as to make students keep higher interest in learning.In the teaching of primary school English vocabulary,rote memory is still the main method,and there exists the problem that students feel boring in their learning process.However,the combination of games and teaching can make students play games and meanwhile finish the task of learning knowledge.In this context,this study first retrieves and analyzes the domestic and foreign literature related of game-based learning,and understands the current situation of game-based teaching of primary school English.Secondly,the study discusses the feasibility and necessity of applying game-based teaching in primary school English classrooms.Finally,on the basis of analyzing the objectives and problems of English vocabulary teaching in primary schools,the author designs the mode and scheme of carrying out game-based teaching of primary school English,uses the game of “Star Wars” as the tool to carry out three rounds of game-based teaching in the four grade classroom of a primary school.In the process of practice,the author continuously examines and improves the teaching implementation program,and understands the effect of game-based teaching and students' attitude to game-based learning in the form of classroom observation and questionnaire survey.The following conclusions are drawn from the study:Firstly,game-based teaching improved students' learning interest of learning vocabulary,mobilized the learning enthusiasm of students to a large extent and strengthened students' investment of vocabulary learning,so as to promote students' vocabulary learning.Through the research,the author found that most students recognized this kind of vocabulary teaching mode.Secondly,game-based teaching promoted students' mastery of word spelling way,interpretation and pronunciation.Students learn vocabulary on purpose through repeated exercises,which strengthened the effect of vocabulary learning and comprehensively enhanced the abilities of vocabulary listening,speaking,reading and writing.Thirdly,game-based teaching is conducive to the cultivation of students' cooperation and communication skills and competition awareness.In the teaching process,it can be seen that students ask each other within the group in order to get a better team ranking,they change the personal task of remember vocabulary into the goal of a group.The stimulation of their inner motivation can stimulate students' learning investment in a better way.
