One important way to implement mental health education in school work is discipline penetration;that is to say,we should make student's psychological factors in study play an active part in the learning links of all subjects to boost the whole study;in the meantime the psychological factors themselves can be healthily developed.In senior middle school's English teaching and learning exist many problems of vocabulary memorization,which are usually neglected because of teachers' ignoring them.Teachers think the problems are too common to be considered important ones or restricted by objective conditions,so they are laid aside without being studied and solved,but actually have definitely negative effects on students' vocabulary memorization.This subject study has confirmed 8 types of neglected problems by observing,investigating and analyzing current situation of senior middle school's English teaching and relevant researches.Through the investigation and analysis of students,current teaching situation and teaching methodology,the researchers of the study found that the reasons lie in the disconnection between theories and practice,especially all sorts of psychological factors of the learning psychology don't work actively.Thus the action research to specially solve this kind of problems was adopted to integrate the contents of discipline penetration of mental health education into senior students' vocabulary memorization so that the actually neglected problems can be settled with their assistance.During the action research,the researchers repeatedly expounded and proved,tried out and revised a hypothetical solution,and eventually made it a concrete and effective solution: An English vocabulary teaching model,based on students' characteristics combined with the current teaching situation and integrated former relevant researches,must be set up and chronically and uninterruptedly used in practice,and above all the contents of discipline penetration of mental health education must be integrated into the model.In order to ensure that the research would be scientific,the researchers of the subject first consulted relevant documentation,analyzed the theories of English vocabulary study,teaching and memorization,reasoned the necessity of psychological factors in study which play a positive role in students' vocabulary memorization and then built a model named The Teaching Model of Solving Neglected Problems in English Vocabulary Memorization for Senior Middle School Students.Finally,the subject study tested and verified The Model is effective in 3 ways.The first way was experiment teaching.Experiment classes,in which The Model was used to teach English vocabulary,and control classes,in which the basically traditional methods teachers often apply were used to teach,were determined for comparison between them.The second way was English level tests.Language study is not only vocabulary memorization.It includes listening,speaking,reading and writing.The theories show the improvement of vocabulary memorization will promote students' English capability,but sometimes some negative phenomena will appear.For example,some students will only attach importance to vocabulary and pay less attention to other abilities of English language as a result of teachers' close attention to it,which leads to the drop of their English level.Therefore,the researchers compared the results of midterm exams and final exams of the two kinds of classes to prove The Model doesn't negatively affect students' English study.The third way was compiling a questionnaire and using it to investigate students' evaluations of The Model.The first two ways only proved how The Model helps to promote students' vocabulary memorization and English level,while this way proved how the neglected problems were solved and how students' psychological factors of learning improved.The ultimate data collected from the study proved The Model is effective,showing the whole subject study is a successful action research,and producing many practical achievements: making educators further understand schools' mental health education,setting a typical example where psychological factors play an active part in study,providing teachers with valuable teaching reflections and research directions,providing an example of the action research further used in practice,building an English vocabulary teaching and memorizing model that is easy and convenient to operate,and some useful teaching and learning materials such as English vocabulary pronunciation and spelling self-study ability fostering materials,Word-formation consolidating materials,Vocabulary memorizing sheets and Irregular vocabulary memorizing sheets,all of which are worth popularizing and applying.
