The translation project has extracted Chapter ? and Chapter ? from Health and Education in Early Childhood:Predictors;Interventions;and Policies. This book mainly introduces American children's health and education in their early childhood, analyzes some influence factors and comes up with relevant solutions. The selected chapters primarily present the influence of socioeconomic factors on children's health and education in early childhood, such as family income, parents' educational attainment, racial or ethnic disparities and social disadvantages. This translation project is practically significant for researchers and scholars in the field of studying children's early health and education, which furnishes them with great help and reference.Understanding and communication is crucial to the readers of the target text since the translation text is informative, which requires accurate conveyance of information and the focus on the readers' response.Furthermore, equivalent or similar effect should be produced between the readers of the original text and those of the target text.As a result, under the guidance of the communicative translation theory proposed by the translator Newmark and the translation criteria "faithfulness" and "smoothness" put forward by the Chinese writer and translator Lin Yutang, proper translation approaches have been adopted to accomplish the translation. For instance, with the purpose of fulfilling "faithfulness",conversion, repetition and amplification are used;with the purpose of fulfilling "smoothness",division and restructuring are employed. Moreover, specific examples are used to illustrate how these translation approaches are applied.
