An Interpretation Report On Lang Xianping’s Speech Of The Capitalist Spirit And The Socialist Reform

In an increasingly-connected world,speech interpretation,as a important branch of interpretation,serves a significant role in promoting communication at cultural level.This is a interpretation report on a speech given by Lang Xianping at Qinghua University with the topic of the Capitalist Spirit and the Socialist Reform.The speech focuses on the reform problems in China.Based on his professional economic expertise,professor Lang Xianping elaborates his views on the medical reform,educational reform,political reform and so on,and points out the importance of legislation construction.The speech interpretation is based on the Adaptation Theory promoted by the international pragmatist Verschueren,and this paper analyses the utilization of this theory from three important angles: context of speech,sentence structure,and the dynamic adaptation.The writer conducts consecutive interpreting,mainly uses the domestication strategy in the interpretation process,and resorts to methods of literal translation and transcription,and some translation skills like addition and omission,so that the interpretation process is successfully presented.This report mainly consists of six parts.The first part is task description,which introduces the speaker,main idea,and background of the speech.The second part describes the whole process of the task,including preparation details and the after-interpretation reflection.The third part is the literacy review,introducing the current research on interpretation both at home and abroad.The fourth part is the theory framework,which introduces the main content of the Adaptation Theory.The fifth part elaborates on the individual cases based on the Adaptation Theory,analyzing from perspectives of context of speech,sentence structure and dynamic adaptation.The sixth part concludes the interpretation practice,including experience the writer gets and makes suggestions for future practice.
