Error analysis is a very important approach to finding different types of departures and factors that affect the accuracy of interpretation. This report analyzes the author's interpreting errors of a consecutive interpreting event during the filming of the robot competition show ClashBots. It refers to Barik's(1971)coding scheme of interpretation departures and Corder's(1974)procedures of error analysis. The report briefly reviews the main contributions to the field of error analysis, including the emergence of the study of errors, definitions and classifications of errors, and procedures of error analysis.Based on the consecutive interpreting for an interview during the filming, the report presents a case study which analyses various interpreting errors categorized as omissions, additions, and substitutions(errors). The report finds that while the category of substitutions(errors)is most common problems in both the Chinese-to-English and English-to-Chinese interpreting, followed by addition and omission, they are caused by various reasons.Misunderstanding and lack of background knowledge are major causes of departures of interpretation in this task. The report's purpose is to gain a better insight into the author's interpreting proficiency as a trainee interpreter through a detailed analysis.Hopefully it will help improve the quality of her consecutive interpreting in the future training or practices, and shed some lights on the fields of interpreting teaching and learning.
