A Comparative Study Of News Transediting Under The Perspective Of Social Narrative Theory

News transediting,as an important part of global political communication,shapes public opinion,and thus has influence on global politics.It is an important part of national soft power.However,our news transediting team is not professional enough.Misperformance of news transediting happens from time to time.In Mona Baker's theory,translators make conflicts develop in their direction.She regards translation as an approach to legalize their own narration.Doing research about Reference News' transediting of foreign media reports can reveal the ideology behind news discourse,providing reference for researches about international relations.With the help of Mona Baker's social narrative theory,translators can realize their importance and deliver better performance.As a result,it can help improve the quality of news transediting.Narratology was usually applied in researches about literary text.Innovation of this thesis is the application of social narrative theory in news transediting.Compared with English news transediting,there is still much work to do in Russian news transediting.This thesis will apply Mona Baker's theory in Russian news transediting,hoping to gain new insights.The thesis analyzed previous works in news transediting,narrative theory and its application in news transediting researches.From the perspective of text practice,the Reference News chooses words carefully and fine-tuned wording to avoid potential conflicts.From the perspective of discursive practice,the Reference News uses labelling and repositioning,selective appropriation to renarrate foreign reports.It chose critical reports from the U.S-'s media and negative reports on the Quartet from Russian media in order to guide conflicts develop in their direction.From the perspective of social and cultural practice,the Reference News shows willingness to cooperate with Russia and criticized the U.S.A.'s contain-China policy.
