| This report,based on the principle of end-focus,analyzes and studies the translation methods of adverbial clauses concordanced from the chapter entitled"Business Manners" in its original English-versioned Debrett’s New Guide to Etiquette and Modern Manners.Of all the adverbial clauses in this chapter,adverbial clauses of concession,time and condition occur the most frequently.And these three types of adverbial clauses presents themselves at the beginning,middle or end of compound sentences.The communicative dynamism of the adverbial clauses ranges very low at the beginning,through medium at the middle,to very strong stress at the end of the sentences.Therefore,this practice report adopts linear translation,hysteron-proteron,conversion and restructuring methods,so as to highlight the original information focus and reflect its information arrangement in the translation version.Accordingly,the target language will conform to the Chinese expressions and achieve the communicative effects better. |
