As an important group of language system,color words play an important role in human life and communication.For foreign students who learn Chinese as a second language in China,understanding the rhetorical meaning of color words can help them understand some cultural symbol of the Chinese culture,ideology and identity.Culture and language are inseparable,and understanding Chinese culture is conducive to learning Chinese.Learning Chinese can promote cultural communication,too.In the current teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,the teaching requirements of color words remain on the surface,and the rhetoric of color words is not included yet.There are six chapters.The first chapter is the.introduction,background significance of the topic,the literature review of studies of color words in Chinese.This paper analyzes the content of color words in the Chinese teaching materials"Boya Chinese" and "Developing Chinese".The second chapter is the definition of the object.We selected several basic color words according to Berlin and Kay's"Theory of basic color words".At the same time,this paper referred to the ancient Chinese theory of "five elements" and the category theory in cognitive science.Besides,we searched out of the most commonly used color words of the net citizen on Micro blog,and finally decided the object of this article "commonly used basic color words" as "red,yellow,green,white and black".Finally,the HSK syllabus is used to ensure the pertinence and scientificity of the study.Chapter 3 rationalizes the development of the rhetoric meaning of common basic color words and made analysis with the cognitive theory.This paper proposes basic color words rhetoric about common linear cognitive model.Chapter 4 is the questionnaire and the analysis about the result.According to the above conclusions,this paper designed the questionnaire about Color words,for international students in the study of Chinese,color words master conditions were investigated,through the analysis of questionnaire data,the results show that the students' learning of color words has following problems:1.The understanding of color words are symbols of praise or blame righteousness basically correct;2.Affected by the transfer of mother tongue and intermediary language;3.Influenced bythe transfer of target language;4.Poor understanding and mastery of unmodified rhetoric.Chapter 5 is the teaching designing.According to the problems reflected by the questionnaire of fourth chapter,we believe that Chinese color word should be taught intensively on the concept of the color words and rhetorical meaning according to different students and different levels.Based on the above teaching design,this paper gives an example of a teaching plan of "red",to show the specific details of class teaching.The last chapter is the conclusion of this paper.
