To cater for the ever-expanding number of foreign students,Chinese government set up pre-university education system which is specially aimed at those overseas students. The pre-university education, which is other than any other foreign student education, has specialties of its own, such as shortening learning time, high learning intensity and clear learning objectives. How to advance preparatory students' Chinese level in a short time is scholars and teachers' major research subject.Whether students' academic adaption influences their Chinese performance is still an open research question.Under 'the means of quantitative and qualitative research, this article intends to deliberate on preparatory students' academic adaption and its influence factors and to verify the relationship between academic adaption and Chinese level.By referring predecessors' study,we redefined the notions of "academic adaption" and "overseas preparatory students' academic adaption",and reorganized itsdimensions.Based on that,we introduced the following research questions:how is preparatory students' academic adaption?Which factors influence their learning adaption? How are the learning adaption related with psychological adaption and sociocultural adaption? In order to answer above questions,we designed Chinese Academic Adaption Scale, consulted the predecessors' Psychological Adaption Scale and Sociocultural Adaption Scale to investigate overseas preparatory students' living and learning status. We choose overseas preparatory students from College of International University in Shandong University as our objects of study.Analyzing the investigation data by SPSS 22.0 and interpreting the in-depth interviews with students help us get the following conclusions:1.In general, overseas preparatory students' academic adaption is above average, however, this situation get worse in the second semester.2.Among the four concepts of learning adaption, foreign students behave well on the learning objective adaption and learning attitude adaption, and they poorly perform on learning ability.3.We found that region and gender are two main influencial factors on academic adaption.Asian and African students are easier to get used to the learning atmosphere here than South American students. In the first semester, schoolgirls' learning adaption is better than boys',however;schoolboys catch up with and surpass the girls in the second semester.4.The analysis results show that students' psychological adaption and sociocultural adaption have great impact on their academic adaptation. And these three work together to affect foreign students' study grades. In the end, based on our study results,we propose some customized suggestions from the perspectives of teaching, service managing and overseas preparatory students themselves, which was meant to advance students' learning adaption status in quo.
