A Study Of The Features And Strategies Of Interpretation In Football Coach Training Program

With the rapid development of China's economy and society,exchanges in culture and sports are increasing.Therefore,there is a growing need of talents with both sport knowledge and interpretation skills.The participants of a classic football coach training session are usually a foreign tutor,an interpreter and the trainees.This is a very typical case of cross-cultural communication and interpreters play an important role.Apart from building up one's own knowledge system of football in a short period of time,interpreters sometimes also need to play the role of tutor,modifying source language information to help trainees understand the tutor's real intention.However,translation studies of sport or football industry are still rare,especially theses which analyze the features and strategies of football coach training programs.The improvement of translation and interpretation quality and the promotion of communication and cooperation in the field of sports raise the need of more studies.After a brief introduction to the current research status in the field of sport translation and the football coach training program,this thesis proposed three features of football coach training program interpretation,namely the harsh interpreting environment,the diverse role of interpreters,and the different types of conveyed information.Based on the features of football coach training program interpretation,the thesis proposed the corresponding interpretation strategies(Approximative,understandable,discourse management and interpersonal control)and methods in three interpretation phases:before,during and after interpretation.In the key phase of during interpretation,the interpretation strategies are analyzed and summarized by referring to the strategies in Communication Accommodation Theory.It is hoped that this thesis will contribute to the similar football coach training programs in the future.
