With the further development of China's opening to the world, cooperation and exchanges in football between China and other countries are getting increasingly frequent.Nowadays, there are more and more Chinese schools beginning to invite foreign football coaches to provide training in order to improve their overall performances. And this is also an effort to catch up with the pace of international football community.Kaifeng 33 rd Middle School of Henan Province has been a leader in campus football for many years, and has harvested excellent gains in football matches among middle schools in Henan Province, winning numerous prizes and honors for Kaifeng City. This interpreting task has been entrusted by the 33 rd Middle School to translate for Brazilian coach whose name is Chris Sosa.During the period of interpreting task, the author was responsible for Mr.Sosa's daily teaching tasks and basic living necessities.Since football interpreting is different from normal accompanying interpreting, this makes enormous demands on the interpreters. Not only must the interpreter have high demand on his language quality, but also need to learn and prepare relevant professional knowledge about the football in advance. Those preparations can ensure the quality of interpreting during the lessons. This report is guided by the Skopos Theory, which is proposed by Hans Vermeer specializing in the translation area in the 1970 s.This theory holds that translation must conform to the following three major principles, namely the Skopos Rule, the Coherence Rule and the Fidelity Rule. The Skopos Rule holds that the purpose of the entire translation activity determines the nature of the translation. The Coherence Rule holds that the content of the translation needs to be coherent, and at the same time it must be consistent with the original text. The Fidelity Rule holds that the translation work must be faithful to the original text, but the ultimate level of fidelity depends on the translation purpose and translators' understandings of the original text.(Vermeer,Hans,2000 : 17-19)The Skopos Theory provides a theoretical basis for the analysis of the errors and difficulties during interpreting activity, and helps to better analyze the causes of errors emerging from the interpreting process. This report will be divided into four parts.Chapter 1 will introduce the main content of this interpreting task.In this chapter, the source of the interpreting task, the point of the interpreting project, and the specific requirements of the interpreting task will be mainly discussed and explained. In Chapter 2,the whole process of interpreting will be introduced. This chapter will be mainly divided into three parts, which are pre-interpreting preparation, interpreting process and post-interpreting evaluation. The pre-interpreting preparation part gives main description about the preparation of technical terms, translation theory, the making of interpreting plan and review on the strategies of football interpreting. In Chapter 3,from the perspective of the listening comprehension and translation output energy, the representative drawbacks in the interpreting activity will be analyzed under the guidance of the Skopos Theory. In terms of listening comprehension,it mainly includes the effect of intra-lingual knowledge and extra-lingual knowledge on listening comprehension.Chapter 4 is going to be divided into following parts, namely the review and relevant reflection of interpreting activity and the work prospects in the future. In this chapter, the interpreting activity will be summarized, and the drawbacks arising during the interpreting activity will be pointed out.Based on the analysis and summary of the entire interpreting activity, the conclusions of the continuously improved bilingualism and the increased reserve of background knowledge will be reached. The bilingual level serves as the foundation in this interpreting activity.Without a sound bilingual base, the interpreting task cannot be accomplished successfully. To achieve good results, preparations related to background knowledge and professional knowledge in the relevant field are also essential. The proficiency in note-taking during interpreting activity will facilitate interpreters' ability to translate. With the guidance of the Skopos Theory, the outdoor training and indoor lecture of the 33 rd Middle School of Kaifeng city by means of consecutive interpreting will be taken as examples to focus on the analysis of the errors and successful cases in the process of interpreting activity and expression so as to provide theoretical explanations, coping strategies, targeted guidance in order to offer reference for strengthening interpreting practices in the future, thus comprehensively improving interpreters' capabilities in interpreting and the quality of translation work.
