Translation Of The Feature Story The Fighter Based On The Skopos Theory

Feature stories,as one genre of journalistic writings,combine features both from literature and journalism.It is not easy to translate.Besides,translations of feature stories can offer the target audience chances to know more about other countries in the fields of politics,economies and so on.This paper takes the Skopos theory(the coherence rule and the fidelity rule)as guiding principle,and takes The Fighter,Pulitzer Prize winner,as the translation material.This paper aims to offer Chinese readers a version that is readable,and reflects the protagonist's characteristics.Based on the coherence rule,the paper deals with the following aspects:measurement units,perspectives,sentence structures,and vocabulary choices and expressions.Based on the fidelity rule,this paper copes with cultural problems.During the translation,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule go hand in hand to help the translator complete the translation task.
