The object of this translation practice is the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of Taoyuan County,the writer selected the fourth and the fifth chapter,which introduced Taoyuan county's policies and plans from improving modern agriculture and pushing melt-city development strategy in details.Agriculture and tourism are the pillars of the economy in Taoyuan,how to efficiently push the regional development? Except making detailed and feasible developing plans,enhancing external propaganda is also one of effective ways to boost local development.Theoretically,this translation practice searched the text features of publicity texts and related translation strategies;practically,the translated vision showed the recent development of Taoyuan county,and it strengthens the communication between Taoyuan county and other countries and areas.This translation practice is guided by Newmark's text typology.In his writing Approaches to translation,Newmark divided text into expressive text,informative text and vocative text according to the content and features of the text.At the same time,he proposed two translation concepts: semantic translation and communicative translation.As a kind of foreign publicity,the aim of National Economic and Social Development is to introduce orientation of regional development and enhance the external communication.The difficulty of C-E translation of publicity materials is based on how does the translator use favorable ways to express original author's real ideas by taking an objective angle.The writer researched the function and genre of National Economic and Social Development from vocabulary and sentence pattern,and also studied the ways to express original text faithfully in order to make the translation conforms to target readers using habit.From the aspect of text typology,in publicity texts there are some sentences and expressions have different functions and features,some of them are informative,others are vocative.Under the guidance of text typology,the writer thinks that translators should use different ways during translating according to these sentences' or expressions' features.In this translation practice,the writer mainly took communicative translation,and used free translation,amplification,disconnection,conversion and so on,to make the translation more correct,coherent,concise and readable,and to achieve the purpose of intercultural communication.
